{"id":12872,"date":"2026-02-01T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/faw.cymru\/adran-leagues\/?p=12872"},"modified":"2026-01-30T14:22:46","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T14:22:46","slug":"genero-adran-leagues-supports-football-v-homophobia-month-of-action-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/faw.cymru\/adran-leagues\/news\/genero-adran-leagues-supports-football-v-homophobia-month-of-action-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Genero Adran Leagues supports Football v Homophobia Month of Action"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"608\" height=\"412\" src=\"https:\/\/dogirq7bi39sv.cloudfront.net\/FVH-Cymru.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10031\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dogirq7bi39sv.cloudfront.net\/FVH-Cymru.png 608w, https:\/\/dogirq7bi39sv.cloudfront.net\/FVH-Cymru-300x203.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>February marks both LGBTQ+ history month and the campaign month of \u2018Football v Homophobia\u2019 (FvH), a pivotal movement championing inclusivity in the sport.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;Genero Adran Leagues&nbsp;will continue its imperative support of FvH in a stand against all forms of anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination, to ensure football truly is a game for all.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FvH&nbsp;campaign, which has run over the last 17 years,&nbsp;is an initiative delivered by Pride Sports UK that seeks to reduce discrimination related to sexual orientation, gender expression and gender identity at all levels of the game through education, resources and awareness-raising activities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FvH Month of Action will begin on Sunday 1 February and the&nbsp;Genero Adran Leagues&nbsp;encourages all Clubs to sign up to receive the FvH resource pack, dedicate a fixture in support of FvH, whilst continuing to highlight a welcoming environment for all at their Club.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.footballvhomophobia.com\/grassroots\/\">Click here to find out more.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, homophobia, biphobia and transphobia is still present across the game. Recent&nbsp;data from Kick It Out details anti-LGBTQ+ hate related to football is continuing to rise online, with reports of online transphobia increasing by 183%.&nbsp;FvH Cymru will be offering Clubs across Wales opportunities to develop their education in this area throughout, and following, the Month of Action.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dogirq7bi39sv.cloudfront.net\/2025-09-02_Genero_Adran_Launch_CT-357.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12874\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Cardiff City captain Hannah Power shows support for the Football v Homophobia campaign<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Charl Galloway from Football v Homophobia campaign said:&nbsp;\u201cSeeing clubs in Cymru sign up to champion and support the Football V Homophobia campaign is really heartening, particularly in current times. Clubs demonstrating their commitment to make football a safe place where everyone belongs is so important and has a genuine impact on people&#8217;s lived experiences in and around the game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FAW EDI&nbsp;and&nbsp;Sustainability&nbsp;Executive, Carys Ingram added:&nbsp;&#8220;Challenging homophobia in football is not optional, it is fundamental to our values. Welsh football has the power to bring people together, but that only works if everyone feels accepted.
