Shelbourne triumphed 3-0 over Cardiff City in the UEFA Women\u2019s Champions League first qualifying round group 8 third place play-off.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noelle Murray netted a brace before Elizabeth Moore also got on the scoresheet at the \u0160iauliai Central Stadium in Lithuania. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iain Darbyshire made two changes from Wednesday\u2019s defeat to FC Gintra, with Danielle Green and Eliza Collie coming into the starting line-up in place of Mikayla Cook and Rhianne Oakley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shelbourne started the brighter side, with Moore, Megan Lynch and Jemma Quinn all testing Ceryn Chamberlain who saved well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Irish side\u2019s best opportunity came courtesy of a neat one two between Lynch and Quinn before the latter fired over the bar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff grew into the game and had their best spell around the half hour mark, with Collie having two efforts saved in the space of a minute and Danielle Broadhurst sending a dipping shot wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But as was the case on Wednesday, the Bluebirds went behind after conceding a penalty when Hannah Power tripped Murray in the box in the 39th<\/sup> minute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chamberlain did brilliantly to tip Murray\u2019s spot-kick onto the post, but the Shelbourne forward scored on the rebound. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not to be deterred, Cardiff finished the half strongly. Emma Beynon and Ffion Price both had good efforts, but the best opportunity came when Beynon broke into the box and squared for Catherine Walsh who saw her shot saved from point blank range by Shelbourne goalkeeper Courtney Maguire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Irish side doubled their lead eight minutes into the second half when the ball rolled out to Murray on the edge of the box and she unleashed a stunning strike that flew into the top corner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The introduction of substitutes Molly Kehoe and Rhianne Oakley sparked some life back into Cardiff as both players had shots saved around the hour mark, but the Bluebirds conceded a third goal in the 64th<\/sup> minute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chamberlain had got down well to save a flicked effort from Quinn, but Moore arrived to finish from close range on the rebound. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game was unfortunately beyond Cardiff and their woes were increased in the final 10 minutes when Seren Watkins was sent off for a second yellow card offence. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
