{"id":7045,"date":"2023-12-20T14:52:50","date_gmt":"2023-12-20T14:52:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/faw.cymru\/adran-leagues\/?p=7045"},"modified":"2024-03-15T14:59:06","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T14:59:06","slug":"aberystwyth-town-teenager-carys-james-leads-on-clubs-first-her-game-too-matchday-of-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/faw.cymru\/adran-leagues\/news\/aberystwyth-town-teenager-carys-james-leads-on-clubs-first-her-game-too-matchday-of-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Aberystwyth Town teenager Carys James leads on club&#8217;s first Her Game Too matchday of action"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/dogirq7bi39sv.cloudfront.net\/Aber_HGT.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7003\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dogirq7bi39sv.cloudfront.net\/Aber_HGT.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/dogirq7bi39sv.cloudfront.net\/Aber_HGT-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/dogirq7bi39sv.cloudfront.net\/Aber_HGT-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/dogirq7bi39sv.cloudfront.net\/Aber_HGT-768x512.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aberystwyth Town Women&#8217;s first-ever Her Game Too matchday of action was very special for one of their players.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17-year-old Carys James, a regular for the club&#8217;s U19 side, is one of the Seasiders leading on the initative &#8211; a project that runs across the country and is aimed at eliminating sexism, promoting women&#8217;s football, and women in football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And despite recovering from recent surgery to repair her torn ACL, she helped to organise a hugely successful day as they played hosts to league leaders Cardiff City in their final home game before Christmas &#8211; with guests including local Rainbows and Brownies as well as schools, and girls from the club&#8217;s Huddle and holiday coaching camps&#8230;as well as Santa Claus!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It was brilliant to welcome so many children to Park Avenue for our last match of 2023,&#8221; says the Ysgol Penweddig student, who is currently taking A-levels in English, History and Politics as well as the Welsh baccalaureat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local MP Ben Lake, a longstanding supporter of the women&#8217;s team, was unable to attend, but popped down to training in the week to give his best wishes to the squad &#8211; something that meant a lot to Carys, whose interest in politics has extended to doing work experience in the constituency office.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We all hope this will be the first in a long line of events in partnership with Her Game Too, because we at Aberystwyth Town Women are so committed to the message that football is for anyone and everyone.
