The squad are each walking 11,000 steps every day in aid of Rose’s Way Foundation, which was set up by the Jeans family to support those with terminally ill children, named in honour of the baby daughter they lost in 2020 due to a brain tumour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rose’s Way Foundation logo is also displayed on the sleeve of Cascade’s match shirts this season to raise more awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rose’s father Andrew coaches the Cascade under-11s, the team for whom her brother Oliver now plays – and the women have backed them and mother Catherine however they can over the past four years, with fundraising events from distance runs to climbing mountains to a team effort to walk, run or cycle over a 24-hour period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This month’s fundraiser marks four years since Rose’s passing and what would have been her fifth birthday – with Cascade paying tribute to her on their social media, and Rose’s Way thanking them in return for “their continued support and keeping our baby girl’s legacy alive”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the step challenge is one that the players are throwing themselves into – although Mia Kemp reveals that captain Katie Davies initially thought they were going to share the 11,000 daily target between them, rather than each walking it themselves! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is really close to home – part of our Cascade family,” says Mia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Catherine has nothing but praise for Cascade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They are our football family and we are so proud to be associated with such a dedicated and community-spirited team,” she says. “There’s something special about Cascade.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
