It\u2019s a south Wales derby in this season\u2019s Genero Adran Trophy final as Cardiff City take on Swansea City at the SDM Glass Stadium in Bridgend at 5:10pm on Sunday. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Road to the final<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both sides kicked off their Genero Adran Trophy campaigns with huge victories in the round of 16. Cardiff City triumphed 21-0 against Pontardawe Town and Swansea City won 13-0 away at Llandudno. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bluebirds faced a tricky-looking trip to Wrexham in the quarter-finals but emerged as 3-1 winners at The Rock, before Ffion Price\u2019s hat-trick helped them to a 4-0 home win against Aberystwyth Town in the semi-finals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Swans knocked out current holders Cardiff Met with a 5-0 home win over the Archers in the quarter-finals, while Stacey John-Davis bagged a hat-trick in a 5-1 semi-final victory away at The New Saints.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Genero Adran Trophy record<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff City have never won this competition but could not have come closer. They have lost the last three finals in succession, first to Swansea City and then the most recent two to Cardiff Met. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Swans have lifted the trophy on two previous occasions, first in 2016 with a 4-0 win over PILCS in the final before Stacey John-Davis\u2019 double helped them come from behind to defeat Cardiff City 4-1 in the 2021 final. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent form<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff City finished the Genero Adran Premier season with a 5-1 win over Wrexham at the Cardiff City Stadium last week, meaning they finished with 17 wins from 20 games as they lifted the title for the second consecutive campaign. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swansea City placed nine points behind the Bluebirds in second in the league table, having finished the campaign with back-to-back draws against Aberystwyth Town. However, Chris Church\u2019s side have only lost two of their last 19 matches in all competitions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head-to-head<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The south Wales rivals have already met five times this season, but with silverware on the line, Sunday\u2019s game might be the most intense derby yet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swansea are the only club to beat Cardiff domestically this season, with a pair of 2-0 wins over the Bluebirds in the Genero Adran Premier. Iain Darbyshire\u2019s side have also triumphed twice in the league, winning 1-0 at Llandarcy in phase one before a 4-0 win in the capital in phase two clinched the title. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff were also victorious in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup semi-final against the Swans in March, with Mikayla Cook, Molly Kehoe and Megan Bowen on target in a 3-1 win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Players to watch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Molly Kehoe \u2013 Cardiff City<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cayman Islands international Molly Kehoe has adapted seamlessly to life at Cardiff City after joining last summer, scoring 11 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swansea have found the 19-year-old particularly difficult to defend against, with Kehoe scoring in all three of Cardiff\u2019s wins over their rivals this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katy Hosford \u2013 Swansea City<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having assumed the role of Swansea captain last summer, long-serving forward Katy Hosford has only continued to impress with the additional responsibility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 26-year-old has 19 goals in 26 games in all competitions this season, including two against Cardiff City. With Stacey John-Davis out injured, Hosford will be the Swans\u2019 key attacking threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Managers\u2019 thoughts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iain Darbyshire, The New Saints: \u201cWe want to win everything that is available to us. The Adran Trophy is the one trophy that has kind of eluded us. Over the last few years, we\u2019ve been in two of those cup finals and we haven\u2019t performed in them, and we will be looking to put that right on Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Church, Swansea City: \u201cAs a Swansea City player, manager, fan, you don\u2019t want to lose to Cardiff City, and it\u2019s vice versa too. The game means so much to both sets of players and fans. It does add an extra bit of tension, but that can also big a good thing and motivate the players in the right way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Home to Penybont FC, the SDM Glass Stadium hosts the Genero Adran Trophy final for the second consecutive season after Cardiff Met triumphed 3-1 over Cardiff City in last year\u2019s showpiece in Bridgend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stadium also hosted this season\u2019s Bute Energy Welsh Cup semi-final between Swansea City and Cardiff City, which the Bluebirds won 3-1 thanks to two late goals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All tickets bought online before 3pm on Monday 8 April will be delivered by post. All online tickets bought after this time will be available for collection inside the clubhouse at the SDM Glass Stadium on matchday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
