Powell caused danger from a wide area once again, delivering a menacing ball in for Tija Richardson to head home for her first goal for the club.

The New Saints have also made an impressive start to the campaign and maintained top spot in the table with a convincing 6-1 victory at home to Aberystwyth Town.

It was a frantic start at Park Hall as Molly Havard’s free-kick delivery was turned home by Tiggy Webb at the back post to give TNS with just six minutes played, only for 15-year-old Maria Ewers to equalise for Aberystwyth 16 minutes later as her shot crept under Becca Elliott.

The Saints were back in front just after the half hour mark as Havard tucked the ball home from close range after good work from Chantelle Teare on the right, before Shauna Duffy’s side took a firm grip on the game early in the second half as Lia Lewis scored from outside of the box and Lexi Jones produced a smart first time finish from close range.

Player of the match Teare got on the scoresheet herself in the 76th minute as she controlled a long ball before driving into the box and producing a clinical finish past Chelsea Herbert, while Webb completed a brace four minutes from time, firing home from Maria Francis-Jones’ corner.

Ffion Price’s brace inspired reigning champions Cardiff City to a 3-1 comeback victory over Cardiff Met at Leckwith.

The Archers took an early lead in the capital through summer signing India Shanahan, but the Bluebirds got back on level terms just before half-time as their own new arrival Fiona Barry fired home from Lisa Owen’s cross.

City completed the turnaround six minutes into the second half as Price scored from the penalty spot, while the full-back continued to show her prowess from dead ball situations as she added a third for her side with a spectacular free-kick shortly after the hour mark.

Eliza Collie had a header from close range denied by the post in the final 15 minutes, but it mattered not to the Bluebirds who begin the season with back-to-back wins.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" United.

The Swans created plenty of chances early on as Stacey John-Davis missed the target with a pair of headers, while Barry goalkeeper Molly Arnesen pulled off crucial saves to deny both Robyn Pinder and Katy Hosford shortly before the break.

Fewer opportunities came in the second half as Barry defended resolutely to secure a clean sheet and their
