After a shaky start to the season, things are looking up for Wrexham.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having finished third in their remarkable debut season in the Genero Adran Premier, the start of this campaign was tricky, with Steve Dale\u2019s side losing their opening three games. For Liv Fuller, she believes the problem was putting the ball in the back of the net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe went on tour at the start of preseason, and we got new players in, and it took us a while to get used to playing together. But football is a simple game too. If you score goals, you win games, and we were struggling to score early on. The performances we put in were good and it\u2019s what we were looking for, but we just couldn\u2019t find that end product.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, things are looking different now for the Red Dragons. Key victories in the league and cup competitions have seen them battling for a top four spot, and for trophies come the end of the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a team, we worked hard on mindset, and with the publicity we get here at Wrexham, we know people will always say things and everyone will have their opinions. We\u2019ve worked really hard to stay as a close-knit squad, to believe in each other, but also to believe in what we\u2019re doing and that it will win us games.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This weekend sees Fuller and Co. take on a familiar foe in Swansea City for a place in the Genero Adran Trophy final. The forward knows Sunday will be another challenge, but one her side are in a good place to deal with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll be a close game. They\u2019ve got key players like Katy Hosford who can get forward and cause problems, but I feel the games we\u2019ve played against them have always been close. The last two games Swansea have lost, while we\u2019re on a winning streak. For us, it\u2019s about consistency. We need to get on a roll of winning, not just in the cup but in the league too. We need to stay tight and compact defensively, but also show that flair and confidence going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Games between the two heavyweights are always close, and Swansea have always seemed to find a way to win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last three games have all ended 3-2 in the Swans\u2019 favour, while the past four games have been decided by one goal. It\u2019s fair to say Fuller and her squad are tired of being the bridesmaids, and are hoping on Sunday, they can finally be the bride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re similar in terms of the squads have played together for a few years. When we play each other, it\u2019s a case of we want to show everyone that we can play good football. It\u2019s been 3-2 for so many games now, and that is driving us for this Sunday, that we don\u2019t want it to be another 3-2. It can\u2019t be another 3-2, because we\u2019re sick of it! It can be 3-2, as long as we\u2019re on the right side of it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Fuller herself could play a big part in the outcome of this semi-final. With four league goals to her name, she\u2019s the club\u2019s top scorer so far this season, and is hopeful her good form can continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI only played towards the back end of last season because I was coming back from injury. Going on tour before the season really boosted my confidence and having a full preseason under my belt. I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on with the scoring, but it can carry on by all means!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But make no bones about it, Wrexham are looking to go all the way this season. A semi-final place isn\u2019t enough for them, and after narrowly losing out last year, they are looking to make amends this time around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt would be massive for us to get to the final. This year, however, it\u2019s not about us getting to the final, it\u2019s about winning it. We got to one last year and it didn\u2019t go our way, but with regards to how last season went and this season is going, we\u2019re building on the style of play and how that can lead us into good performances. It\u2019s a must this year to win a trophy, we have to go all the way.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
