Match Day Travel

The FAW encourages all fans to embrace sustainable travel options when heading to the match, from public transport to carpooling or cycling. Together, we can reduce our environmental impact.

Rodney Parade is accessible via public transport. For those travelling by rail, the nearest station is Newport. From the station, it is approximately a 10-minute walk to the stadium.

Visitors opting for bus travel should alight at Newport Bus Station, located at Friars Walk. From this point, the stadium is also roughly a 10-minute walk.

Parking at the stadium is extremely limited therefore it is recommended that you park in one of the city centre car parks and walk to the stadium from there

Match Day Entertainment

There will be plenty of matchday entertainment and live music on offer for supporters visiting Rodney Parade.

Supporters can enjoy use of the fan park from 1pm, with indoor and outdoor seating and refreshments available, there will also be a children’s inflatables park open to fans.

Tinty and the Bucket Hats will perform on stage at the Fan Park while roaming entertainment comes from Samba Galez who will provide a festival feeling to the cup final.

Prior to kick off, DJ Kay Russant will take to the main stage to get supporters ready for the game.

There will be opportunities for photos with the JD Welsh Cup and Spikey the Dragon outiside the marquee.

Supporters should make sure they are seated in time for the national anthem which will be sung by Craig Yates 10 minutes prior to kick off after the teams line up.

Stadium Rules

Even if you are a regular visitor to Rodney Parade, keep in mind that the stadium may operate differently for Welsh Cup matches and rules may be different from what you are used to.

Large bags won’t be allowed into the stadium, small bags may be permitted as long as they are able to fit under your seat.

Remember that professional cameras and cane umbrellas are not permitted inside the stadium. However, you can bring a small, fully collapsible umbrella.

Smoking is not permitted in any part of the stadium. If you wish to smoke, please use one of the designated smoking shelters.

Mobile Tickets

If you’re going to the match, you’ll need to download and use the Cymru Tickets app to get in, unless you’ve specifically requested and paid to receive paper tickets.

The FAW are introducing the Cymru Tickets App for two key reasons:

  • To improve the match day experience for fans 
  • To make our matches more sustainable

Food & Beverage

Rodney Parade has food and beverage options to suit most diets and culinary requirements. If you have any allergy concerns, please speak to a member of staff at the kiosk.

There are alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available to supporters, however please note that alcoholic beverages cannot be taken up to your seat or drunk in view of the field of play. This is in accordance with the UK Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985.

While promoting inclusion and diversity within the stadium, we applaud and encourage passionate support. However, we do not tolerate discrimination, abuse, foul and abusive language or anti-social and threatening behaviour.

If supporters experience any form of anti-social behaviour, abuse or discrimination inside the stadium please help us to eliminate it by reporting any discrimination or abuse by alerting it to your nearest steward.

Pyrotechnic Warning

There is no safe use of pyrotechnics in spectator areas at football events with their use having many health risks and dangers such as loss of sight, limb or digit removal due to their explosive power.

Being in possession of a pyrotechnic device at a football match or attempting to bring such a device into a football stadium, is a criminal offence under the Sporting Events Act 1985. Any person committing such an offence faces an FA Wales ban, probable arrest and a minimum 3-year Football Banning Order.  

Additionally, should persons be identified using pyrotechnics in places of public assembly away from and en route to the stadium, they can be issued with section 34 notices and be instructed to leave the area with details passed to the FAW, Rodney Parade and the authorities. This may result in entry to the stadium being denied.

Audio Descriptive Commentary Service

The FAW offer an audio description commentary service at every Senior National team home fixture and every domestic Cup Final.

The free to use service for blind and vision impaired spectators will be provided by Alan March Sport Ltd and will be available to fans with trained audio describers keeping up with play to the second to ensure listeners know exactly where the ball is and what is happening on the pitch.

To register your interest and book a receiver for the forthcoming matches, email PAWB@faw.co.uk 

You will need to provide your name, phone number and ticket information (Stand, block, row and seat) and your receiver will be delivered by a steward prior to kick off.

It will be possible to request a receiver on the day by speaking to a steward at the stadium. Please note receivers are subject to availability. We advise users to bring their own headphones to ensure both comfort and hygiene.

Sensory Pack

Fans with sensory needs can apply for a free FAW Sensory Pack. The packs have been designed to help fans, particularly those with autism, who attend matches, to enhance the matchday experience, making it more comfortable and enjoyable. Each pack is presented in an official Cymru drawstring bag and contains a disability awareness lanyard, as well as branded noise-cancelling headphones, a football fidget spinner, a poppet sensory keyring, a Cymru football soft stress ball and more.

All sensory packs will need to be pre-booked and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply for a pack please complete the Sensory Pack Request form.

Multi-faith prayer & meditation room

A Multi-Faith Prayer & Meditation Room is available to supporters who require a quiet space and is located in Rodney’s Bar.

Any supporters who would like to access the room can contact the FAW’s Equality Diversity Inclusion & Sustainability Executive on the day (Carys 07393014286) or speak to your nearest steward on the who will help to escort supporters to the room and assist them back to their seats.

FAQ

Is there a minimum age to attend the match?

There is no minimum age requirement for this match.

Do underage ticket holders need to be accompanied by an adult?

Yes, all ticket holders under 14 should be accompanied by an adult.

How early should I get to the stadium before the match?

We advise that you arrive at the stadium as soon as gates open.

Can I use any entrance at the stadium to get to my seat?

Please use the entrance stated on your ticket. This will be the entrance closest to your seat.

If I’m late to the match, can I still enter after kick-off?

Yes, you will be able to enter the stadium up until half-time.

Once I enter the stadium, can I leave and come back in?

No re-entry is permitted at Rodney Parade

What kind of flags and banners can I bring into the stadium?

Flags that are 2×1 meters in size will be allowed into the stadium, flags with offensive or political statements will not be permitted.

I need to bring an item from the prohibited list for medical reasons. Does it need to be requested in advance?

To avoid any complications at entry, it is advised that you let the FAW know if you require any medical items. Please email fans@faw.cymru detailing your medications.

What should I do if I have a problem with my mobile match tickets? Is there somewhere at the stadium that I can get help?

If you have a problem with your match tickets contact your nearest steward or go to the ticket office at the stadium. 

What if I have a problem/emergency at the stadium?

Problems and emergencies should be reported to the nearest steward as and when they occur. 

Is there a lost and found office at the stadium and what do I do if I lose or find something?

There is no formal lost and found, however lost items are sometimes kept in storage at the stadium – please contact the stadium. 

Are there phone charging stations in or around the stadium in case my phone runs out of battery?

There are no phone charging stations at the stadium, please ensure your phone is fully charged before travelling to the match. 

Are there toilets outside the stadium?

Outside toilets can be found in the fan park.

Is there Wi-Fi at the stadium?

There is no public Wi-Fi at the stadium, if you require internet access, please contact your nearest steward.

Will the stadium be covered if it rains?

The majority of the Rodney Parade is covered, however adverse weather conditions may affect spectators in the first few rows.

Do I need to bring cash? Are there cash machines near the stadium?

Rodney Parade is cashless.

Any advice for fans attending the match with children or infants?

Supporters attending with young children and infants should buy tickets in the family stand and aim to arrive at the stadium as early as possible to avoid busy periods of entry.
