Facilities at Afan United in Port Talbot have undergone a huge renovation thanks to funding from the Cymru Football Foundation, Welsh Government and Neath Port Talbot Council.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seven-figure investment has seen the previously abandoned facility transform into a modern football hub for the local area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with the club\u2019s fundraising efforts, this collaborative investment means the high-quality on and off-field facilities will now serve future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brand-new off-field facilities also means a safe space for players \u2013 particularly women and girls \u2013 to call their own with the project including modern, welcoming changing rooms and clubhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The completion of the project at Afan United sees the total invested into Neath Port Talbot by the CFF top \u00a31.4million since 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the structural improvements, the new facility also carries deep cultural significance. A mural honouring Port Talbot-born, former Cymru boss Brian Flynn also features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artwork serves as both a tribute to his contribution to Welsh football and an inspiration to young players using the new facility, linking the club\u2019s future ambitions with its proud local heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aled Lewis, Director at the Cymru Football Foundation said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The new facilities at Afan United encapsulate what the CFF is about – investing in high-quality facilities in communities across Cymru that need them most. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A huge thank you to UK Government, the Football Association of Wales and the Premier League for their continued support – together we’re working to improve Welsh football on and off the pitch.” <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owen Hathway, Assistant Director – Insight, Policy and Public Affairs at Sport Wales said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want every person in Wales, of all ages to access and enjoy sport and physical activity. Investing in facilities like this is in Port Talbot is an important step towards creating more opportunities for people locally, and in all communities across Wales.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remi Whitelock, Chair at Afan United said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’re so excited for the future of Afan United Football Club – what was initially just a vision has come to life and we couldn’t be happier with how the facilities have turned out.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Without the support of the Cymru Football Foundation, Welsh Government and Neath Port Talbot Council we’d still be at the first step. The hard work has paid off and we’ve now got facilities to be proud of.” <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2022, the Cymru Football Foundation has invested over \u00a325million into high-quality football facilities across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CFF supports development of football through investment and guidance as we deliver on the Football Association of Wales\u2019 commitment to develop inspirational fit-for-future football facilities across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
