The first of its kind, the brand-new 3G includes an innovative surface type that contains an organic cork, biodegradable infill system \u2013 boasting a much higher sustainability element than that of a traditional rubber infill.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to financial support from the Cymru Football Foundation, Sport Wales and Monmouthshire County Council, the redevelopment replaces the previous 2G surface at the facility, which was completely unusable in its previous state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open to all of the Caldicot community, the facility will support curriculum use during the school day, creates a valuable space for local grassroots clubs and opportunities for people of all ages to stay active, connect and enjoy sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The completion of the project at Caldicot Leisure Centre sees the total amount invested into Monmouthshire by the CFF top \u00a3500,000 with grants also given to support the likes of Chepstow Leisure Centre, Raglan JFC and Undy AFC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aled Lewis, Director at the Cymru Football Foundation said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to see a facility of this kind make its way to Wales as the CFF continues to find innovative ways of bringing high-quality facilities to communities across Cymru. Being able to provide support to upgrade this pitch has allowed us to bring new opportunities for players in the area and meet the growing demand.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWorking collaboratively with Monmouthshire County Council and Sport Wales on this project has been so important in bringing a new lease of life to the facility. A huge thank you to UK Government, the Football Association of Wales and the Premier League for their continued support.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councillor Angela Sandles, Monmouthshire County Council\u2019s Cabinet Member for Equalities and Engagement said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis new pitch is a fantastic asset for Caldicot. Sport plays a big part in our community, and now Caldicot has a brand-new facility to be proud of. It\u2019s also much more than sport, it\u2019s about creating a space where our community can come together, build connections and lead healthy, active lives.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2022, the Cymru Football Foundation has invested over \u00a325million into high-quality football facilities across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CFF supports development of football through investment and guidance as we deliver on the Football Association of Wales\u2019 commitment to develop inspirational fit-for-future football facilities across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
