Denbighshire has a brand-new grass pitch courtesy of a \u00a3225,000 grant awarded by the Cymru Football Foundation \u2013 in partnership with UK Government \u2013 at Meliden Football Club in Prestatyn.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A second grass pitch has been installed at The Mine to allow the club to accommodate current demand with the view of welcoming new women and junior teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new pitch will give The Miners a hub that will provide opportunities to the wider community whilst also improving environments and experiences for current and new players, allow the club to become more sustainable and support women and girls\u2019 participation \u2013 three key priorities for the Cymru Football Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chairperson of Meliden FC, Tom Fletcher said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re so pleased that we can open this life-changing facility for our football club. We couldn\u2019t have done it without the support from the CFF, Sport Wales, the Gwynt y Mor Community Fund and the North Hoyle Windfarm Fund. It\u2019s just the beginning for our club and we can\u2019t wait to see what the future holds.\u201d \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aled Lewis, Director at the Cymru Football Foundation said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Cymru Football Foundation is committed to investing in fit-for-future facilities across Wales and this investment at Meliden FC will attract more players and allow current players to have better experiences.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA huge thank you to UK Government alongside out other partners and funders for their continued support \u2013 we\u2019re taking strides in improving football in Wales on and off the pitch.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CFF supports the development of football through investment and guidance as it delivers the FAW\u2019s commitment to develop inspirational fit-for-future football facilities that will improve and grow Welsh football both on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since February 2022, the CFF has invested over \u00a317 million<\/strong><\/a> into supporting fit-for-future facilities across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
