The Cymru Football Foundation has opened our latest revitalised facility at Bwy\u2019n Iach – Glan Wnion in Dolgellau thanks to support from UK Government.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CFF \u2013 backed by UK Government \u2013 has invested just over \u00a3170,000 into the creation of a brand-new multi-sport facility, alongside support from Cyngor Gwynedd.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously a disused and rundown multi-use games area, Bwy\u2019n Iach\u2019s new facility provides a new training space for Dolgellau Athletic AFC\u2019s male and female junior teams all year round \u2013 whilst also hosting the club\u2019s newly established Huddle<\/a><\/strong> sessions \u2013 a Football Association of Wales initiative that offers girls and young women an introduction to football a friendly and sociable environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new facility will also provide opportunities for cricket, tennis, netball and hockey \u2013 providing a major boost for sporting opportunities in the local area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councillor Medywn Hughes, Cyngor Gwynedd’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Community said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are delighted to see the pitch here in Dolgellau being upgraded to such a high standard. We can all agree that taking part in sports at all levels is vital for the physical and emotional wellbeing of people and I am pleased that this new pitch matches the passion for sports we see locally.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a Council, we are pleased to be able to work with Byw\u2019n Iach, the Cymru Football Foundation and Dolgellau Athletic AFC and that the funding has been secured to ensure that the pitch has been upgraded. The community effort to get to this point has been admirable and many congratulations to all who have worked so hard to get to this point. I look forward to seeing more people of all ages and abilities making the most of the new pitch.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vice Chair at Dolgellau AAFC, Peter Davies said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDolgellau AAFC will benefit significantly from the improvement in the outdoor facilities at Byw\u2019n Iach, Glan Wnion, enabling our junior and senior teams to play football in inclement weather, when our grass pitches are unavailable.  <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe accessible surface will also assist us in executing our long-term strategy to introduce football to members of the wider community. We are very grateful to the Cymru Football Foundation for their support, without which this project would not have been possible.\u201d<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director at the Cymru Football Foundation, Aled Lewis said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new facility in Dolgellau will enable more players to play, improve the experiences of current players and enable Bwy\u2019n Iach to provide a wide range of activities for the local community.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA huge thank you to our partners, UK Government, in supporting the development of such a high-quality facility. Thanks to this support, we\u2019re making huge strides in improving football facilities in Wales on and off the pitch.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CFF supports the development of football through investment and guidance as it delivers the Football Association of Wales\u2019 commitment to develop inspirational fit-for-future football facilities that will improve and grow Welsh football both on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since February 2022, the CFF has invested over \u00a317 million<\/strong> into supporting fit-for-future facilities across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
