Newport City suffered defeat in the JD<\/a> Cymru South for the first time this season as they were beaten 1-0 by Carmarthen Town at the LHP Stadium on Saturday.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decisive goal arrived in the 58th<\/sup> minute as Carmarthen captain Liam Thomas netted for the second consecutive game. The Old Gold defence held firm to keep a clean sheet \u2013 their fifth in eight league matches this term \u2013 and secure all three points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

League leaders Cambrian United moved four points clear at the top of the table after Liam Eason\u2019s penalty proved enough to triumph 1-0 away at Baglan Dragons on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cambrian struck the crossbar three times in the opening 50 minutes of the contest, but eventually found the breakthrough in the 56th<\/sup> minute when Eason converted from the spot for his 11th<\/sup> league goal of the campaign. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trefelin climbed up to second in the standings as Luke Bowen\u2019s hat-trick inspired an emphatic 5-0 win away against Ynyshir Albions on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andy Hill\u2019s side immediately took control of the contest as Lewys Ware broke the deadlock inside just three minutes, before Tyler Brock and Bowen also struck to make it 3-0 after 16 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bowen netted twice more in the final 15 minutes of the game to complete his treble and secure Trefelin\u2019s biggest ever away victory in the JD Cymru South. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caerau Ely were also 5-0 winners on Saturday afternoon as they eased to victory away at Treowen Stars to move up to third place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Olly Redhead opened the scoring in the 22nd<\/sup> minute, before Zack Maher doubled the lead in first half stoppage time with his first goal since the opening day of the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Redhead bagged his second of the afternoon shortly before the hour mark, while Matty Kimmins added his name to the scoresheet in the 70th<\/sup> minute. Treowen squandered the chance to pull a goal back as substitute Chris Hartland missed from the penalty spot on 76 minutes, before Liam Bishop added a fifth for Caerau Ely two minutes later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The points were shared between Cwmbran Celtic and Trethomas Bluebirds as they played out a 2-2 draw at Cwrt yr Ala Road on Friday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Josh Williams put the Bluebirds ahead after just nine minutes with his composed finish at the front post, before Josh Gibson levelled for Celtic two minutes into the second half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haben Samson finished in the midst of a goalmouth scramble to restore the visitors\u2019 advantage on 65, which looked to have earned victory until Travis James fouled Efan Fletcher in the box in the 86th<\/sup> minute and Celtic captain Andrew Larcombe stepped up to score the resulting penalty and rescue a point for his side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff Draconians made it four wins from their last five league games by triumphing 2-0 away at Llantwit Major on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sam Cawley put the Dracs ahead in the 16th<\/sup> minute as he latched onto Nathan Mathias\u2019 long ball and slotted past Ryley Allen, before in-form striker Dan Bowen doubled the lead four minutes later with his fourth goal in as many league games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major forward Kofi Rowe saw his close range effort denied by the post, but the Dracs saw out their clean sheet to ensure their impressive recent form continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gavin Jones scored a late equaliser to salvage a point for Ammanford in a 1-1 draw at home against Pontypridd United on Friday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Euros Griffiths and Seth Woodhouse both made crucial goal-line clearances for Ammanford in a goalless first half, but Ponty eventually found the breakthrough in the 74th<\/sup> minute as Tom Hillman marked his first start for the club with a goal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dragons were nearing their first away win of the season, but Ammanford were level on 86 minutes as Jones tapped home at the back post from Morgan Clarke\u2019s cross to ensure Wyn Thomas\u2019 side remain unbeaten at home in the league this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jonathan Evans was Aberystwyth Town\u2019s hero for the second consecutive game since his return to the club as his second half strike earned a 1-0 win away at Afan Lido on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lido had a free-kick denied by the post early in the second half, but Evans fired Aber ahead in the 67th<\/sup> minute as he cut inside and sent a stunning strike into the top corner to leave Ben Haines with no chance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A first clean sheet on the road since August 2024 secured victory for the Seasiders, while Lido have now suffered three consecutive home defeats in the JD Cymru South for the first time since 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
