Gresford Athletic moved five points clear of the JD Cymru North relegation zone with a thrilling 3-2 home win over Penrhyncoch on Saturday.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Penrhyncoch took a narrow lead into half-time after Dion Phillips\u2019 finish, but Gresford completed a quickfire turnaround in the second half thanks to Tom Smith\u2019s first goal since October and Mitchell Williams\u2019 stunning strike into the top corner from distance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dan Owen continued his impressive scoring run for the Roosters, netting his sixth goal in five games to level the scoreline on 83 minutes, but Gresford restored their lead just three minutes later thanks to 18-year-old Sam Bryan\u2019s first ever senior goal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Colliers are now up to 13th<\/sup> in the table and have claimed back-to-back wins for the first time this season, while Penrhyncoch remain bottom of the table and three points adrift of safety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Holywell Town missed the chance to move a point behind league leaders Llandudno after they were held to a 3-3 draw by Ruthin Town at the Memorial Playing Fields on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a frantic start to the contest as Jake Cooke fired home from Jamie Breese\u2019s low cross to put the Wellmen ahead on 10 minutes, only for Tom Dyer to equalise for Ruthin two minutes later in his first match since returning to the club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joel Giblin completed a quickfire turnaround for Ruthin with a curling shot into the top corner, but the hosts missed a glorious chance to make it three by the half hour mark. Holywell defender Ieuan Hewitt was shown a straight red card for his foul on Llyr Morris inside the area, but John Danby was able to save Giblin\u2019s resulting penalty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamie Breese brought Holywell back on level terms in the 38th<\/sup> minute, but Ruthin were back in front five minutes later after Morris finished off a swift counter-attack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruthin were hoping for their first league win against Holywell in over seven years as they went into half-time ahead, but Holywell substitute Joe Sullivan made an instant impact after his introduction ahead of the restart as he sent a fierce strike in via the crossbar to equalise for the visitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breese was denied the crossbar later in the second half, while Ruthin goalkeeper Dan Goldston made some key saves to ensure his side went home with a point. Colin Caton\u2019s side are now three points clear of the relegation zone, although the two teams below them – Flint Mountain and Penrhyncoch – have two games in hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dropped points for Holywell allowed Airbus UK Broughton to climb up to second place with a 2-0 victory away at Holyhead Hotspur on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

George Peers put the Wingmakers ahead in sublime fashion in the 38th<\/sup> minute as the forward retrieved a loose ball and unleashed a powerful strike into the top corner, leaving Guto Hughes no chance of the save. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peers doubled his and Airbus\u2019 tally shortly before the hour mark as he raced onto Jordan Evans\u2019 through ball and clinically fired into the bottom corner for his 16th<\/sup> league goal of the season. Mark Allen\u2019s side are two points behind Llandudno at the top of the table, but the leaders do have a game in hand after their trip to Newtown was postponed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
