Aberystwyth Town climbed into the JD Cymru South promotion places for the first time this season with a 2-1 victory over Treowen Stars at Park Avenue on Saturday. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The match remained goalless for 79 minutes until Jonathan Evans found the breakthrough for the Seasiders by controlling Dylan Downs\u2019 flick-on and finishing into the bottom corner. Evans doubled the lead in the 88th<\/sup>minute by converting from the penalty spot after he had been brought down in the box by Jordan Needs, who was shown a red card for his foul. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Craig McDonnell pulled a goal back for the Stars in stoppage time before Aber midfielder Calvin Smith was shown a second yellow card for delaying the restart of play, but the hosts held to make it four consecutive league wins for the first time in nearly seven years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caerau Ely dropped out of the promotion places and down to fifth in the table as they were beaten 3-0 away at league leaders Cambrian United on Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The division\u2019s top scorer Liam Eason put Cambrian ahead on 31 minutes as he found the net from Alex Bonthron\u2019s cross to bag his first goal since New Year\u2019s Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That same duo combined again in the 42nd<\/sup> minute, with Bonthron applying the finish from Eason\u2019s assist for his second goal in as many games. Cambrian skipper Kyle Jones then wrapped up an impressive first half from the hosts with his close-range strike in stoppage time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jones\u2019 centre-back partner Ash Evans was sent off for a second bookable offence shortly before the hour mark, but the hosts saw out the remainder of the match to earn their seventh straight league win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second-place Trefelin remain five points behind Cambrian, with two games in hand, following a 2-0 victory over Carmarthen Town at the LHP Stadium on Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contest remained goalless for over an hour, but Luke Bowen popped up with his ninth league goal of the season to put Trefelin ahead on 64 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Substitute Callum Saunders scored his first league goal since last April in the 81st<\/sup> minute to wrap up a hard-fought away win for Andy Hill\u2019s side, who are now unbeaten in the JD Cymru South for over six months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ammanford remain fourth in the table but dropped points in the race for promotion after being held to a goalless draw at home by Trethomas Bluebirds on Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ammanford nearly grabbed a dramatic late winner as Dan John won the ball back and raced through on goal, only to see his effort clip the outside of the post. Wyn Thomas\u2019 side are now winless in their last four matches in all competitions, while it was the Bluebirds\u2019 first clean sheet away from home this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff Draconians climbed up to sixth in the table with a 3-1 win over Baglan Dragons at Lydstep Park on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dracs took the lead inside just 15 minutes as Sam Cawley pounced on a defensive error and sent a sweetly struck effort from distance beyond Aaron Ryan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dragons were level through Jonathan Davies\u2019 strike five minutes before half-time, but Kieran Parsons\u2019 foul on Sam Roberts inside the area just four minutes after the restart resulted in a second yellow card for the Baglan defender and a penalty for the Dracs, which Roberts converted for his first league goal since the start of November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nana Baah\u2019s side continued to take advantage of the extra man and eventually put the game to bed on 86 minutes as Haben Samson went on a brilliant solo run and fired home his first goal for the club since returning from Trethomas Bluebirds last month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Llantwit Major halted their four-match winless streak in the JD Cymru South with a 3-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Cwmbran Celtic at the UWL Stadium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jack Bevan fired home from the left hand side of the area to put Major ahead after just seven minutes played, but the youngster was forced off with injury early in the second half and had to be replaced by Finn Jennings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celtic captain Andy Larcombe met Isaac Powell\u2019s cross and headed in from close range to make it one apiece on 73 minutes, but they were only level for three minutes as Connor Goldsworthy restored Major\u2019s lead with his first goal since August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Substitute Cam Gauci ensured Major claimed all three points in stoppage time as he held off his marker and coolly finished past Lewis Watkins. Major are now up to ninth in the table, while Celtic remain seven points adrift of safety with a game in hand on 15th<\/sup>-place Afan Lido. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newport City earned their first league win in 2026 with a narrow 1-0 triumph over Afan Lido at Princess Margaret Way on Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lido had a glorious chance to take the lead when Cai Owens stood over a penalty in the 17th<\/sup> minute, but his spot kick was saved by Ed King. The hosts were punished for that miss as Ellis Sage put the Steelmen ahead seven minutes later with a fierce strike from the edge of the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lido\u2019s hopes of an equaliser were dashed when Cory Woods was sent off for a second bookable offence just after the hour mark, which allowed the visitors to see out the game and take home all three points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pontypridd United secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a 3-1 victory away to Ynyshir Albions on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jack Jones\u2019 penalty gave Ponty the breakthrough in the 28th<\/sup> minute, but the Buns would level the scoreline before half-time thanks to Joseff Haig\u2019s strike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethan Wynne netted his first competitive goal since November 2024 to restore the Dragons\u2019 lead nine minutes after the restart before Josh Stephens opened up a two-goal advantage for the visitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ynyshir\u2019s woes increased when manager Craig Hopkins was sent off for a second yellow card immediately after Stephens\u2019 goal. Ponty have now climbed two places and sit 10th<\/sup> in the table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
