The temperatures might be dropping as we approach the first weekend of October but things are beginning to hot up across the JD Cymru Leagues. Here are the key matches to watch. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Cymru Premier \u2013 Connah\u2019s Quay Nomads v Aberystwyth Town (Friday, 7:45pm)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connah\u2019s Quay Nomads and Aberystwyth Town are two sides both in desperate need of a win ahead of their meeting at the Essity Stadium on Friday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nomads find themselves in unfamiliar territory as they currently sit ninth in the JD Cymru Premier table, having picked up just one point from their last five matches. A 3-1 defeat to Caernarfon Town last weekend left Billy Paynter\u2019s side seven points adrift of a top six spot, with the manager asking his players to \u201cstand up and be accountable\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aberystwyth are currently bottom of the table after losing seven straight league matches for the first time since the division was formed in 1992. Spirited performances in narrow one-goal defeats to Barry Town United and Cardiff Met in their two games have provided some hope, but the Seasiders need to start putting points on the board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two sides shared the points in August\u2019s reverse fixture as Aber forward John Owen produced a stunning strike to cancel out Fumpa Mwandwe\u2019s opener in a 1-1 draw at Park Avenue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Cymru North \u2013 Denbigh Town v Mold Alexandra (Friday, 7:45pm)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denbigh Town will be hoping to build on their shock 2-0 win away at Holywell Town last weekend when they host Mold Alexandra on Friday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dewi Llion\u2019s side stunned the reigning JD Cymru North champions to end a three-match winless streak in the league and move four points clear of the relegation zone to 11th<\/sup> place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fourth-place Mold are one of the most in-form teams in the division, having won their last four league matches, scoring 12 goals and keeping three clean sheets during that time. Another victory for Barry Owen\u2019s side on Friday could see them climb as high as second in the table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two sides have already met in the league this season in August, when Mold snatched a late 2-1 win thanks to Seydou Bamba\u2019s stoppage time goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Cymru South \u2013 Llantwit Major v Goytre United (Saturday, 2:00pm)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Llantwit Major are unbeaten in their last five matches in the JD Cymru South and put that record to the test at home to Goytre United on Saturday afternoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major\u2019s impressive run of form has seen them climb to third in the table, while they held league leaders Trethomas Bluebirds to a 1-1 draw away from home last weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In contrast, Goytre started the campaign strongly but have lost their two league matches either side of a heavy defeat to Cardiff Met in the Nathaniel MG Cup, slipping to ninth in the table in the process. They have not lost three league games in a row since the start of last season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keane Watts\u2019 stoppage time penalty gave Goyt a narrow 1-0 win away at Major last season, with the prolific forward also scoring in the reverse fixture which saw his teammate Ben Cripps net a late equaliser to salvage a 2-2 draw.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
