Fan Walks: Lucerne

In Lucerne, we will join the Dutch in a fan walk in celebration prior to our first ever match at a Women’s Euros. The fan walk will begin just outside the fan zone on the Europlatz in Lucerne and walk all the way to the stadium from there, roughly a 2.5km walk along the streets of the city. The walk is flat and will feature aspects specific to each team – including the famous Oranje fan bus, there may be a few surprises on our side too!

The fan walks will feature breaks for celebration and dancing to songs and is a great opportunity to meet other supporters, from both Cymru and the Netherlands. On the approach to the stadium, there will be a lot of fan activities for supporters to take part in provided by UEFA, make sure enjoy the atmosphere before the match starts.

Fan Walk: St. Gallen

The fan walk in St. Gallen will be equally as colourful, Cymru will take part in the fan walks here on matchday 2 and 3, with France and England respectively. To get to the fan walk in St. Gallen fans can either take a short bus from the fan zone or get on a train from the main station in St. Gallen to Winkeln train station, from here the fan walk is a 1 minute walk away.

The fan walk to Arena St. Gallen is 700m from the stadium and is a flat walk to the stadium, upon approach to the stadium, supporters will see two sets of stairs to the entrances. UEFA volunteers will direct Cymru fans to the correct staircases for their entry point. Outside the stadiums there will again be fan activities and a chance to meet fellow supporters.

FAQ

Why should I take part in the fan walk?

The fan walks are an opportunity for Cymru fans to show their pride, passion and spirit before each match. The FAW encourages supporters to take part in them as they will be an amazing memory from each match and an opportunity to meet and talk to other supporters.

I will need to take a big bag or a stroller for the walk, is there any storage for these outside the stadium?

Yes, there will be lockers to store these on the fan walks or at the stadium. Any bag bigger than A4 size will not be allowed into the stadium. For more info on what will be allowed into the stadiums, visit here.

What should I wear?

Whilst we want everyone to be comfortable in what they wear, we encourage everyone to wear RED in a celebration of Cymru. This is to ensure that when we walk to the stadium, it is a sea of red.

Oh, and don’t forget your bucket hat!

What time will the fan walks start?

The fan walk start time will vary from each city, it is advised that supporters reach the fan walk start points around 2 hours before kick off so they can get ready to go. The FAW’s official WEURO 25 WhatsApp channel will provide live updates to supporters on start times.

It is unlikely that I will be able to walk the distance of the fan walk, what are my options?

Public transport is free with a match ticket and there are several options for supporters to reach the stadium.

From the fan zone in Lucerne there will be several shuttle buses to the ground, these will take ten minutes. The train from Lucerne station will get you to the ground even quicker taking only 3 minutes.

There will also be shuttle buses from St. Gallen fan zone and main bus hub that supporters can get to the stadium – these will be clearly sign posted and drop supporters off directly outside the stadium.

From these locations, supporters can see the fans walking from the stadium and join them in celebration as they arrive at the ground. Please note that public transport is likely to be very busy on matchdays, so plan well in advance.

Will there be toilets along the way on the fan walk?

Toilet options may be limited on the fan walk.

Will the roads along the fan walks be shut to traffic?

Yes, the host cities have both worked with local traffic control to ensure that there will be no traffic on the fan walk routes. Whilst this allows for a better fan walk, please note that nearby roads may still be open to traffic.
