At the Football Association of Wales (FAW) we are aware that hateful and discriminatory attitudes which exist in society regrettably extend to football. Instances of discrimination and behaviour motivated by prejudice persist across all levels of the game and we acknowledge that a more intensified effort in combatting all forms of discrimination and hate in football is required by everyone. It has no rightful place in the sport, and the FAW is committed to robustly addressing this issue. The FAW will take vigorous action in respect of investigating complaints of discrimination and anyone who is found guilty of any of the offences detailed in its Discrimination in Football Regulations will be liable to sanctions and will also be ordered to undertake an education workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We constantly strive to identify and understand these issues in order to effectively shape our approach to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and challenge all forms of discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By eliminating prejudice and discrimination from the game, it will provide a more joyful and welcoming environment for all to participate in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all play a key role in achieving this vision and can play an important part in tackling discrimination and inequality in football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognising the profound impact that discrimination and prejudicial, hateful behaviour can have on an individual’s well-being and future involvement in the sport. Our aim is to empower victims and foster a football community that stands united against discrimination in all its forms providing our full support to those who encounter discrimination and hateful behaviour while participating in football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the updated Discrimination Regulations<\/a> in 2024, the FAW has launched a Victim Support Programme working in partnership with Victim Support Cymru<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Programme provides advice and support for individuals who have experienced discrimination in football in addition to providing guidelines on the FAW\u2019s process of investigating reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone who has been affected by discrimination in football can contact\u00a0Victim Support Cymru<\/a>\u00a0to receive free, confidential independent support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
