{"id":654,"date":"2021-10-26T16:07:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-26T15:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/faw.cymru\/pawb\/?p=654"},"modified":"2024-06-20T16:19:17","modified_gmt":"2024-06-20T15:19:17","slug":"our-wales-for-her","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/faw.cymru\/pawb\/news\/our-wales-for-her\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Wales: For Her"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/d2sse31vfzxfzb.cloudfront.net\/for-her.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-655\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d2sse31vfzxfzb.cloudfront.net\/for-her.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/d2sse31vfzxfzb.cloudfront.net\/for-her-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/d2sse31vfzxfzb.cloudfront.net\/for-her-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/d2sse31vfzxfzb.cloudfront.net\/for-her-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/d2sse31vfzxfzb.cloudfront.net\/for-her-1536x864.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Football Association of Wales have today (Tuesday 26<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;of October) released their women and girls\u2019 strategy for 2021-2026, with a mission to create the best environment, support structures and opportunities to accelerate the growth of women\u2019s football, to make it reach its full potential.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Titled \u201cOur Wales: For Her, Ein Cymru: Amdani Hi\u201d, the six-year strategy details a vision to inspire confidence in women &amp; girls to be their best self and can be viewed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/faw.cymru\/pawb\/be-football-mentoring-programme-for-her\/\">here.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahead of Cymru\u2019s FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup Qualifier against Estonia at Cardiff City Stadium, the FAW shared its specific targets for women and girls\u2019 football in Wales, which are set out to allow the game to grow faster, stronger and have a platform it deserves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month the FAW released its new vision and strategic plan,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/our.cymru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u2018Our Wales, Ein Cymru\u2019<\/a>&nbsp;which maps out the path ahead for Welsh Football and detailed a clear focus to double the size of the women and girls\u2019 game.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, the FAW has witnessed a 50% increase in participation, with now over 10,000 registered female players. Yet the FAW have set an ambitious goal to double that number and have 20,000 women and girls playing football by 2026. By ensuring every girl has the opportunity to be involved in football, the FAW look forward to working with partners across Wales to guarantee the female game has the platform to reach its potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAW\u2019s commitment to doubling the women\u2019s game, not only includes a doubling of participation, but a pledge to doubling its fan base and investment to further accelerate the growth of the women and girls\u2019 game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Our Wales: For Her\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Fryihi_3tfk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>FAW Head of Women\u2019s and Girls&#8217; Football, Lowri Roberts said: \u201cThis is only the first half for our game and with the increased investment and focus from the FAW, we aim to capitalise on recent growth and momentum. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe strive to inspire future generations through our Cymru national team and create opportunities and environments where girls feel truly accepted in a sport that is for pawb.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FAW CEO Noel Mooney added: \u2018Women\u2019s football is the fastest growing sport across Europe and the biggest area of growth in Welsh football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have set an ambitious target to double the participation and get 20,000 playing by 2026 and in order for us to ensure the game reaches its full potential, we are investing more as a percentage of our turnover into our women\u2019s programme than any other nation across Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To further strengthen its commitments set out in \u2018Our Wales: For Her\u2019, the FAW has joined professional network Women in Football in their \u201c#GetOnside\u201d campaign by pledging&nbsp;<em>\u201c<\/em>to #GetOnside by doubling the participation, fanbase and investment into women and girls\u2019 football in Wales.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women in Football CEO Jane Purdon said: &#8220;We are delighted to welcome the Football Association of Wales into the #GetOnside family, where many organisations are pledging to take action towards a fairer future for the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The FAW&#8217;s far-reaching new targets are a quantum leap for women and girls as both players and supporters of football in Wales. We look forward to seeing this superb work bear fruit.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport Dawn Bowden said: \u201cWe are committed to working with all governing bodies to improve access to and participation in sports for women and girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m pleased to endorse the FAW\u2019s strategy \u2013 it has a really important role to set the direction in one of the major sports in Wales and the world.
