      2. POST-MATCH REACTION

Cymru captain Hayley Ladd told BBC Sport Wales: “I am gutted. It’s really difficult to take because I thought we were just about managing the game at the end. We have got to be better, put our chances away and be a little bit more in control of the game.

“Jess put us ahead with an amazing shot and it’s difficult that that’s not the winner. Credit to Ukraine. They are so hard-working and on the counter you can see they are a real threat. It’s something we have to be aware of. We will keep working and we are only at the start of our journey, so we have a long way to go in terms of fine-tuning things and making sure we are a little more potent in attack as well.

“We just want to win games for this Welsh shirt. We have been waiting to qualify for a major tournament but maybe it’s a stark reminder that we have just got to take it one game at a time and look to really grow our performances.

“Rhian is new in her tenure. It’s about getting to know each other more and learning a new system which poses lots of different challenges.”

      3. POST-MATCH REACTION

Rhian Wilkinson told BBC Sport Wales: “If you lose [a lead] in the last seconds of a game, it’s always going to feel like a loss. It was a tough camp for us, an important camp for us, because as I said to the team, they are not the [type of] performances that are going to help us make history.

“It’s not the window we wanted at all. We came here for six points and we leave with two. But maybe it’s the one we needed because it’s not good enough. I think a big positive is that we went behind in both games and we came back. That’s something about character which I like. But we are 2-1 up in the last seconds of a game, we can’t be drawing it.

“The players need to go away on holiday, unwind, recharge and come back in ready to work because we have another very important window to come.”

      4. MATCH SUMMARY

Cymru have remained unbeaten in their UEFA EURO qualifying group but this evening’s result will feel like a defeat for Rhian Wilkinson’s side, such was the nature of the last-gasp goal they conceded. They dominated the game, as they did in Llanelli five days earlier, but were unable to convert that dominance into three points.

They had several opportunities to go ahead early on after a great start but failed to mane their opportunities county before Ukraine broke the deadlock through Kalinina just before the break. Barton’s second-half penalty and Fishlock’s wonder-strike two minutes later looked to have kept Wilkinson’s side at the top of their qualifying group but substitute Kozlova ensured the points were shared as Cymru fall to second.

What probably adds to the frustration for Cymru is that over the course of these two games, Ukraine only had three shots on target throughout but still managed to make them all count.

Cymru know sealing top spot is still in their own hands with two games to play, with Wilkinson’s side facing two big fixtures away against Croatia and at home against Kosovo next month.

      24. SECOND HALF

The game is back under way with Cymru looking to turn it around.

      25. HALF-TIME: Ukraine 1-0 Cymru

Cymru somehow find themselves behind at the break despite dominating possession and the shots count. Rhian Wilkinson’s side made such a positive opening to the game and heaped pressure on the Ukraine goal throughout the opening 20 minutes, with Rowe and Barton enjoying opportunities but Cymru were unable to make it count.

Ukraine have grown into the occasion and, similarly to the game in Llanelli last week, have taken advantage of their own real chance to score. It was a quick counter-attack from Ovdiychuk, whose direct run was finished off by Kalinina.

      26. GOAL

A clinical counter-attack from Ukraine sees them take the lead with their first real effort of the evening. Ovdiychuk’s run ends with her finding Kalinina, who is on hand to fire home the opener.

      27. Goal

        YANA KALININA

      28. Barton goes down in the area and appeals for a penalty but the referee waves away the protests. It’s been a lively start for the striker.

      29. Rowe and Barton have enjoyed the best opportunities for Cymru in the opening 25 minutes.

      30. Holland picks out the run of Barton from a corner but her headed effort goes over the crossbar.

      31. Another long pass forward from Evans picks out the run of Barton, who manages to get a shot away but Shmatko is there to clear the ball off the line for Ukraine.

      39. STARTING LINEUP

Here’s the starting XI Rhian Wilkinson goes with for this evening’s game. There are four changes from Friday’s outing in Llanelli, with Rachel Rowe, Lois Joel, Carrie Jones and Kayleigh Barton replacing Lily Woodham, Rhiannon Roberts, Ffion Morgan and Mary McAteer. Georgia Walters is named on the bench after replacing Josie Green in the squad.

      40. WILKINSON POISED FOR ANOTHER CHALLENGE

Head coach Rhian Wilkinson said she was pleased with her side’s response in the second half on Friday and is hoping for more of the same from the get-go in Poznan.

Speaking in her pre-match press conference, Wilkinson said: “You’ve got to work for everything, even if you have huge amounts of possession it doesn’t mean anything if you’re not finishing. It was a reminder that things are not always going to go your way, and then what are you going to do? How are you going to fix it?

“I was really not happy with losing 45 minutes with the team being unsettled and resorting to a type of play we are better than, but I was really pleased with the reaction [in the second half]. Ukraine are one rank below us in the FIFA rankings and they qualified for the last Euros – this is a very good team. They played fantastically, they were shattered at the end of the game and they gave it everything they had.”

      44. Rhian Wilkinson has confirmed that Hayley Ladd will captain Cymru against Ukraine tomorrow.

Speaking on the captaincy, Ladd said: “It’s a really proud moment, whenever you lead a team out, especially for your country, it’s a huge honour. Rhian has taken the time to get to know us a little bit more before making a permanent decision, so I’m grateful to be given the opportunity.

“I know what I’m like as a player and a person, I know what I can deliver for the team. I’m probably not a hugely vocal person but I speak up when it matters and hopefully I can lead in different ways and add a different voice to the leadership frame.”

      45. There have been some changes to the squad ahead of the trip to Poznan, with Josie Green (injury) and Laura O’Sullivan (personal reasons) withdrawing. Striker Georgia Walters will meet up with the squad ahead of the game against Ukraine.
