A full Genero Adran Leagues schedule returns this weekend after a fortnight of cup action, with plenty of intriguing matchups to keep an eye on.
Genero Adran Premier – The New Saints v Wrexham (Sunday, 2pm)
Wrexham make the short trip to face The New Saints at Park Hall in the Genero Adran Premier on Sunday.
TNS maintained second place in the table with a 1-0 win at Aberystwyth Town three weeks ago, with Shauna Duffy’s side going on to defeat to Caldicot Town and Llandudno in the Genero Adran Trophy and Bute Energy Welsh Cup respectively. It means the Saints are now unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions, scoring 26 goals in that run and conceding just three.
After losing their first three league games of the season, Wrexham have won three of their last four to sit just two points adrift of a top half spot in sixth place. Cup wins over Cwmbran Celtic and Felinheli will have boosted confidence even further.
Wrexham were the last team to win away at TNS in the Genero Adran Premier as Mari Gibbard scored the decisive goal in a 3-2 victory in January. Steve Dale’s side had won 3-1 at home in the season’s earlier meeting thanks to Carra Jones’ double.
Genero Adran North – Llanfair United v Bangor (Sunday, 2pm)
Genero Adran North surprise package Llanfair United will aim to continue their impressive start to the season when they host Bangor this weekend.
Llanfair have won two of their opening three leagues games of the campaign to sit third in the table with half of their points tally from the whole of last season. Gwynfor Edwards’ side also impressed in the Genero Adran Trophy as they reached the knockout stage for the first time in their history, before a spirited performance in a 4-0 defeat to top-flight giants Swansea City.
Bangor are one of three sides – along with NFA and Rhyl 1879 – still without a win to their name in the Genero Adran North this season. Andrew Wright’s side drew to Flint Town United and Rhyl in their opening two games before a narrow 1-0 loss to reigning champions Llandudno three weeks ago.
Nothing could separate Llanfair and Bangor in a 1-1 draw in the first meeting between the two sides last season, but teenager Becky Jones’ brace inspired Llanfair to a 4-2 victory in the reverse fixture.
Genero Adran South – Cascade v Caldicot Town (Sunday, 2pm)
Cascade and Caldicot Town meet on Sunday after both sides came close to causing upsets in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup last weekend.
Cascade had already pulled off one shock by dumping Cardiff Met out of the Genero Adran Trophy, before they led at half-time against treble winners Cardiff City last weekend only for the Bluebirds to stage a comeback. In the league, Brendan Donohoe’s side are aiming to bounce back from consecutive losses to Cwmbran Celtic and Penybont that have left them sixth in the table.
Meanwhile, Caldicot took Barry Town United all the way to penalties last weekend after leading 2-1 against the Genero Adran Premier side. They got off the mark in the league three weeks ago with a 2-0 home win over Llanelli Town.
Caldicot have already beaten Cascade this season as Rianne Jones’ hat-trick helped earn an emphatic 5-1 victory in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage. Cascade won both league meetings last season.
