Genero Adran Leagues Games to Watch: 5 October

With all three divisions now under way, preview the key fixtures to keep an eye on across the Genero Adran Leagues this weekend.

Genero Adran Premier – Swansea City v Wrexham (Sunday, 2pm)

The Swansea.com Stadium plays host to third versus second in the Genero Adran Premier as Swansea City welcome Wrexham.

It will be the Swans’ first fixture at the stadium since October last year when Stacey John’s goal secured a 1-0 win over Cardiff City in front of 2,225 fans.

Yzzy Taylor’s side made a flying start to the new campaign with wins against Barry Town United (4-0) Aberystwyth Town (2-0) but suffered a 3-0 defeat away at Cardiff City last weekend – their first loss under the guidance of Taylor.

Wrexham’s win away at Swansea last season saw them pip their opponents to a place in the top four

Second-place Wrexham have won three out of their first four matches, scoring a league-high 16 goals. Braces from Abbie Iddenden and Mariam Mahmood inspired a 6-1 home win over Pontypridd United last Sunday.

Swansea won 3-2 against Wrexham in both their first league meeting and the Genero Adran Trophy semi-final last season, but the Red Dragons earned revenge with a 5-0 victory in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup and a 3-2 triumph in the reverse league fixture which saw them pip the Swans to a place in the top four.

Genero Adran North – Llanfair United v Connah’s Quay Nomads (Sunday, 2pm)

Last season’s Genero Adran North top two meet for the first time in the new campaign as Llanfair United host Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Sophie Cook’s brace inspired Llanfair to a 3-2 victory away at Felinheli on the opening day of the Genero Adran North last weekend, while they have also registered one win and one loss in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage.

The Nomads did not play last weekend so will now aim to get their title defence off to a strong start after winning all 12 league matches last season. Jordan Parry’s side won 1-0 away to Berriew in their first Genero Adran Trophy group match, but that was followed by a 1-0 loss to Llandudno on Matchday Two of the competition.

The Nomads won all three meetings between the two sides last season, triumphing 2-0 in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup before earning 6-0 and 1-0 wins on their way to lifting the league title. Paris Schofield joined Connah’s Quay from Llanfair in the summer, but the midfielder has immediately returned to Powys after just one match for the Nomads.

Genero Adran South – Pure Swansea v Carmarthen Town (Sunday, 2pm)

Newly-promoted Carmarthen Town travel to face Pure Swansea after both sides were victorious on the opening day of the Genero Adran South.

Carmarthen were promoted after winning the SWWGL title last season and marked their second tier debut with a 2-1 comeback win over Cwmbran Celtic last weekend. The Old Gold have not lost a league fixture away from home since the team’s reformation in 2022.

Pure Swansea, runners-up in the Genero Adran South lasts season, secured a 2-0 win away at Llanelli Town in their league opener last weekend thanks to a brace from Caitlin Meadows. Chris Church’s side headed to Stebonheath again on Wednesday night for their rearranged Genero Adran Trophy game but conceded a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw.

The Swans have already beaten Carmarthen this season with a 1-0 victory in the Genero Adran Trophy, courtesy of Isabel O’Sullivan’s second half goal. The only other previous meeting between the two sides came in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup last season as Carmarthen stunned the Swans with an emphatic 5-1 away win.
