Genero Adran Leagues round-up | Cardiff City win title as Cardiff Met are relegated

Cardiff City secured the Genero Adran Premier title with a 3-1 home win over The New Saints on Sunday.

Knowing that victory would clinch the trophy for a third successive season, the Bluebirds first had the chance to go ahead when Mia Davies brought down Mackenzie Olden in the box after 12 minutes but Mackenzie Haydn-Jones denied Ffion Price from the penalty spot.

The game remained goalless until two minutes into the second half, when Cardiff finally found the breakthrough as Molly Kehoe played through Eliza Collie who fired home. It was 2-0 just five minutes later when Lily Billingham’s pass set Olden clear down the left and the striker released an unstoppable shot to beat Haydn-Jones.

Mia Davies headed home from Caitlin Chapman’s corner to half the deficit for TNS in the 80th minute, but Cardiff substitute Fiona Barry put any late nerves to bed when she dribbled from inside her own half before clinically finishing into the far corner.

There were contrasting emotions for the other team from the capital, as Cardiff Met were relegated following a 2-1 defeat away at Aberystwyth Town.

Aber led inside the opening five minutes at Park Avenue, as Libby Isaac’s looping shot sailed over Charlotte Smith for the defender’s second goal in as many matches.

Met earned a potential lifeline in the 75th minute when Beca Thomas’ stunning strike from distance got them back on level terms, but the Archers suffered late heartbreak as Aber substitute Gwen Jones – who returned to Park Avenue from Met in January – netted the winning goal just seven minutes after coming onto the pitch.

Briton Ferry Llansawel secured second place in their first season back in the top-flight as they won 3-1 against Wrexham at the STōK Cae Ras.

Ferry took the lead on 27 minutes when Tija Richardson headed in Alice Broadley’s ball into the box, but Wrexham were level seven minutes later as Abbie Iddenden tapped in from close range after Courtney Young could only parry Carra Jones’ cross.

The visitors restored their advantage three minutes before half-time as Megan Kearle played in Jade Crofts who fired into the far corner for her first league goal for the club.

The afternoon got even better for Ferry eight minutes into the second half when Phoebe Davies’ underhit back pass was intercepted by Laura-May Walkley, who rounded Liz Craven to score her side’s third goal.

Swansea City secured top spot in the Plate Conference with a 3-0 win away at Barry Town United.

All three previous meetings between the sides this season had finished level, but the Swans left the hosts stunned with all three goals scored inside the first 32 minutes.

Jess Williams headed home from Katy Hosford’s corner after seven minutes, while Stacey John-Davis bagged an eight-minute brace – curling into the top corner after driving forward, before lobbing Barry goalkeeper Molly Arnesen.

In the Genero Adran North, Llandudno earned their first win in eight league games as they thrashed NFA 8-0 at the Go Goodwins Stadium.

It was a relentless first half display from the Seasiders, as Maddie Williams opened the scoring after three minutes before Rebecca Jarvis-Evans and Angharad Jones added their names to the scoresheet and Kelsey Davies bagged a brace.

Davies secured her hat-trick seven minutes after the break, while an own goal from Elizebeth McClelland and a strike from 16-year-old substitute Anna Carey completed the rout for Llandudno.
