Genero Adran Premier round-up: Wrexham extend lead at the top while Swansea City return to winning ways

Wrexham extended their lead at the top of the Genero Adran Premier with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Aberystwyth Town at The Rock on Sunday.

Wrexham took just three minutes to find the opening goal as Rosie Hughes sent a brilliant first-time strike into the far corner and beyond Sophie Steele’s reach.

However, Aberystwyth equalised in remarkable style 12 minutes later as Amy Jenkins twice intercepted Wrexham captain Jodie Bartle and lofted the ball over Liz Craven from distance.

Jenkins pounced on a loose ball and slotted home her second of the afternoon to put Aber ahead, but Wrexham were level 10 minutes later thanks to Mariam Mahmood’s dipping strike on the edge of the area.

The Red Dragons restored their lead five minutes into the second half as Hughes brought down Carra Jones’ diagonal ball and made no mistake firing past Steele. Jenny Sugarman’s side saw out the remainder of the contest to earn victory, which now confirms their place in the Championship Conference with three games to spare.
