Yzzy Taylor is keen to build on a positive end to the season after being confirmed as the new Swansea City head coach.
The 31-year-old took charge of the Swans’ final five league games of the campaign in an interim capacity, following the departure of Jamie Sherwood in March, picking up a maximum 15 points to secure a fifth-place finish.
Taylor had joined the club as assistant coach to Sherwood in August 2024, but his time in the hotseat did not go as planned as the Swans – six-time top-flight champions – found themselves in the bottom half at the end of Phase One for the first time.
“I’m delighted to become the new head coach of Swansea City,” Taylor told the club’s official website. “I’m keen to carry the momentum from the end of last season into next season.
“This squad is strong, and I have full confidence in every player to improve and develop ahead of next year’s campaign. The hard work starts now.”
Taylor previously spent 11 years at Cardiff Met as both a player and head coach, collecting six league titles, three Bute Energy Welsh Cups and three Genero Adran Trophy crowns during her time at Cyncoed.

She also works as a coach alongside Nia Davies with the Cymru WU19 squad, a role which she will continue as she takes the reins at Swansea.
Swansea City CEO, Tom Gorringe, commented: “We’re delighted that Yzzy has committed to the Swans. Since she took over as caretaker head coach, we’ve been on a great run and we’re excited to see how the team, under her leadership, can improve next season.”
Chloe Bull, Football Operations and Administrator for Swansea City Women, added: “The way the team has been playing under Yzzy has been superb, we’ve been scoring lots of goals and difficult for teams to play against. It was an easy decision to make Yzzy the head coach. The players clearly love playing for her, and she’s finished the season with 5 wins which is brilliant.”
