The Novira Cymru Premier returns this weekend following some big results in the first midweek action of the season, which has already shaken up the table. With plenty more at stake this weekend, here are the key games to watch.
Airbus UK Broughton vs Flint Town United (Friday, 7:45pm)
Flint Town United continue their search for a first win of the season as they travel to face local Flintshire derby opponents Airbus UK Broughton at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Friday.
Flint had 11 points to their name after nine league games last season, but have only managed two at this stage in what is proving to be a difficult period for Lee Fowler’s side. Flint have missed key chances in defeats away to Caernarfon Town (3-0) and The New Saints (5-0) either side of a 1-1 draw with Cardiff Met, where the Silkmen were denied their first win after conceding a second half penalty. All four of Flint’s top-flight victories in 2026 from last season have come away from home.
Airbus have won four out of their opening nine matches and currently sit 10th in the table. Mark Allen’s side earned back-to-back statement victories over Holywell Town and Briton Ferry Llansawel just over a fortnight ago, but are hoping to respond to recent 2-0 and 3-0 losses to last season’s top two The New Saints and Connah’s Quay Nomads. The Wingmakers have not gone three consecutive league games without scoring since March 2023.
Flint were 1-0 victors against Airbus on their way to reaching last season’s Welsh Cup final, with Ben Wynne scoring the only goal. Flint also won all four games between the two sides in the 2022/23 Novira Cymru Premier as they secured 1-0 and 2-1 victories in between a pair of 3-1 wins.

Ammanford vs Penybont (Friday, 7:45pm)
Ammanford welcome unbeaten Penybont to the Ammanford Recreation Ground on Friday after both sides were involved in their own share of drama in positive results in midweek.
Ammanford conceded 12 goals and failed to find the net once in three consecutive defeats to Cardiff Met, Llandudno and Caernarfon Town, but Wyn Thomas’ side ended their losing run on Tuesday as VAR drama allowed Callum Thomas to convert a late penalty and clinch a hard-fought point in a 2-2 draw away to second-place Barry Town United, which lifted Ammanford out of the bottom three.
Penybont were made to work extremely hard to keep their unbeaten record intact on Tuesday as they recovered from Max Melbourne’s early straight red card and falling behind from the resulting penalty to produce a stunning comeback and claim a 3-2 victory. All three goals netted by Bont meant something special to the scorers as Tyler Walker bagged his second goal in as many games, Jonathan Leko opened his account for the club and veteran forward Chris Venables scored for the 24th consecutive top-flight season.
Ammanford midfielder Thomas also scored a late goal when both teams last faced off as his strike sealed a 2-1 win for Ammanford in the 2022/23 Nathaniel MG Cup.

Haverfordwest County vs Holywell Town (Friday, 7:45pm)
In-form Haverfordwest County aim to continue their resurgence against bottom-of-the-table Holywell Town at the Dynamite Bridge Meadow on Friday.
Haverfordwest failed to score a single goal in five consecutive losses at the start of the campaign, but the Bluebirds have enjoyed a complete turnaround in form recently by earning home wins over Trefelin (2-1) and Briton Ferry Llansawel (3-1), while also battling to clinch a point away to Connah’s Quay Nomads in a 1-1 draw.
Tony Pennock’s side were not in midweek action, so will hope to have a fully fit squad heading into Friday’s fixture, and Dan Hawkins, who has three goal contributions in his last two games, could well be the inspiration once again.
Holywell began September by claiming their first ever Novira Cymru Premier point in a 1-1 draw with Trefelin. The Wellmen were narrowly beaten 2-1 away to Cambrian United last Friday, but are now seeking significant improvements following a 5-0 loss at home to Colwyn Bay on Tuesday, which is not how legendary manager Johnny Haseldin would have wanted his 500th game in charge of the club to go.
Holywell have scored more goals than the other five teams above them, including five more than Haverfordwest, but some heavy defeats so far have proved costly, which will raise concern for Haseldin and his side.
