Following the third round of the JD Welsh Cup last weekend, a packed JD Cymru Leagues schedule returns across the next three days. Here are the key matches to keep an eye on.
JD Cymru Premier – Caernarfon Town v Barry Town United (Sunday, 2:30pm)
It is sure to be an entertaining and fiery affair as ever when Caernarfon Town and Barry Town United meet at the Oval on Sunday afternoon.
It has been an impressive campaign for the most part for the Cofis who sit fifth in the table, but they are hoping to respond following back-to-back defeats against Connah’s Quay Nomads and Penybont.
Barry currently sit just one point and one place above the relegation zone, but were victorious on their last visit to north Wales with a 1-0 win at Colwyn Bay.
Caernarfon triumphed 3-0 in this season’s reverse fixture at Jenner Park at the end of September, although Barry have won on their previous two trips to The Oval.
JD Cymru North – Llandudno v Ruthin Town (Friday, 7:45pm)
It is set to be a special evening on the north coast on Friday as Llandudno return to the OPS Wind Arena for the first time since September 2022.
The Seasiders come in to the game in their best form of the season, having won back-to-back matches against Prestatyn Town and Chirk AAA. Jordan Hadaway’s side remain in the JD Cymru North relegation zone but are now just two points adrift of safety.
Friday night’s visitors are Ruthin Town, who sit just three points ahead of Llandudno in 11th place. Phil Hudson’s team are winless in their last four league matches, conceding a 93rd-minute equaliser against Porthmadog in their most recent outing at the end of October.
The two clubs have already met once this season, with Ruthin coming from 2-1 down to triumph 3-2 in the first round of the Nathaniel MG Cup in July.
JD Cymru South – Afan Lido v Llanelli Town (Friday, 7:30pm)
A three-way battle for the title has formed in the JD Cymru South and two of the clubs, Afan Lido and Llanelli Town, meet at the Marston’s Stadium on Friday night.
Llanelli are currently top of the table, ahead of second-place Briton Ferry Llansawel on goal difference, following three successive wins. Lee John’s also defeated top-flight Penybont on penalties in the JD Welsh Cup last weekend.
Lido are in third place, two points behind the leaders, after also winning their last three league matches and picking up a knack for scoring crucial late goals.
Llanelli were victorious in both meetings between the two clubs last season, while they meet again next weekend in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup second round.
