JD Cymru North round-up | Late Airbus equaliser sees top three sit level on points

Holywell Town and Airbus UK Broughton remain level on points at the top of the JD Cymru North table following a 1-1 draw at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Saturday.

Zebb Edwards gave the Wellmen the lead in only the eighth minute, but he was sent off just before the hour mark and the Wingmakers made their man advantage count with one minute of the 90 remaining when George Peers poked home from Joe Palmer’s cross.

Third-place Flint Town United went level on points with the top two by winning 3-1 away at Porthmadog on Saturday afternoon.

Rhys Kavanagh broke the deadlock early on before an Anthony Stephens own goal drew Port level, but second half goals from Josh Jones and Elliott Reeves earned the Silkmen a fourth consecutive league victory.

Llandudno claimed only a second league win of the season as they came from two goals down to triumph 3-2 over Prestatyn Town on Friday night.

First half goals from Karl Clair and Dan Atkins put Prestatyn in control, but Danny Holland got Llandudno back in the game from the penalty spot in the 67th minute. The experienced midfielder netted again to equalise after 82 minutes, before Stephen Brown completed a remarkable comeback by scoring the winner six minutes later.

There was also late drama at Central Park where Denbigh Town scored a 95th-minute winner to defeat Mold Alexandra 3-2 – ending the Flintshire side’s nine-match winning streak.

The in-form Jake Roberts twice equalised for Mold after Nathan Brown and Matthew Worrall put Denbigh ahead on each occasion, but the visitors had no time to reply when Daniel Parry-Jones headed home Worrall’s cross deep into stoppage time shortly after Mold’s Alex Smith had been sent off.

There was also one game on Sunday this week as Chirk AAA and Gresford Athletic played out a 0-0 at Holyhead Road, as the hosts ended their six-game losing streak.

Llandudno 3-2 Prestatyn Town
