JD Cymru South round-up | Late Briton Ferry penalty holds Carmarthen Town to draw

There was a thrilling conclusion to proceedings at the LHP Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Carmarthen Town and Briton Ferry Llansawel played out a 2-2 draw.

Luke Bowen’s goal in first half stoppage time looked to have earned the Reds the win, but John Invernizzi and Noah Daley both netted in the final two minutes of the 90 as the Old Gold turned the game around in remarkable fashion.

Yet the drama was not over as Ferry won a penalty in the eighth minute of stoppage time, which Bowen calmly converted to level the contest.

Ferry dropping points meant that Llanelli Town ended the weekend top of the table on goal difference following a 4-0 victory over Caerau Ely on Friday.

Ethan Cann was the star of the show at Stebonheath as he scored the first hat-trick of his senior career, while captain Joe Hopkins also found the net.

Trefelin won for the first time under Andy Hill and earned their biggest victory in over a year by thrashing Abertillery Bluebirds 6-1 on Friday night.

Damon Thomas and Callum Saunders both scored twice – the latter netting a remarkable free-kick from the halfway line – while youngsters Roan Piper and Cory Woods also got in on the rout. Abertillery’s woes were compounded by a late red card for Brandon Withers.

Cambrian & Clydach Vale came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw away at Llantwit Major on Saturday afternoon.

The Major had control of the game inside the first 10 minutes through Joel Woodington and a Ioan Emanuel penalty, but Danny Woolfenden pulled a goal back against his former club before a Ryley Allen own goal brought the Cam Army level on the stroke of half-time.

Taffs Well made it back-to-back wins by triumphing 3-1 over bottom of the table Abergavenny Town on Friday night.

All of the Wellmen’s goals came in a 13-minute spell in the first half as Will Toms, Iolo Jones and Harry Treharne all found the net, before Rhys Schwank pulled a goal back for the Pennies but could not inspire a comeback.
