JD Cymru North round-up | Flint Town United leapfrog Airbus into second place

Holywell Town maintained top spot in the JD Cymru North with an emphatic 4-1 victory away at Bangor 1876 on Friday night.

All of the goals came in the first half at Nantporth, with Jake Cooke, Danny Andrews, Julian Williams and Zebb Edwards finding the net for the Wellmen and Liam Morris scoring his third goal in as many games for the hosts.

Flint Town United leapfrogged Airbus UK Broughton into second place with a 1-0 win over the Wingmakers at the Essity Stadium on Saturday. Joe Williams’ first goal for the club in the 40th minute proved to be the decisive moment.

Mold Alexandra made it four league wins on the bounce in emphatic style by triumphing 5-1 against Porthmadog on Saturday.

Danny Warren opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Port’s Morgan Owen missed a penalty, but the visitors did equalise through Danny Brookwell. However, Mold did not look back after Jake Roberts restored their lead on the stroke of half-time, with Warren, Steve Watkins and substitute Eric Durnell adding to the scoreline after the break.

Denbigh Town were also big winners, beating Llanidloes Town 6-2 – no team in the division has now scored more goals than Dewi Llion’s side. Nathan Brown and Josh Lock both netted twice in the victory at Central Park, while Tom Weir and captain Paul Fleming got one goal each.

Gresford Athletic moved up to sixth place with a 3-1 home win over Llandudno on Saturday – their fourth consecutive league victory. The Seasiders took the lead through Danny Holland, but two goals from the in-form Haci Ozlu either side of Charley Edge’s strike turned the game around for the Colliers.

Prestatyn Town were 4-2 winners over Buckley Town in Karl Clair’s first league game in charge following Chris Jones’ departure last week.

The Bucks led twice through Danny Burgess and Liam Driscoll, but Prestatyn fought back through a Dan Atkins brace and goals for Tyler Magee and Macauley Clifton. Three red cards were shown at Bastion Gardens – to Seasiders defender Joe White and Buckley pair Kieran Cartwright and Scott McHarrie.

Caersws started life without Mark Griffiths in the dugout with a 3-2 win against bottom of the table side Chirk AAA.

The Colliers led through Louie Middlehurst, but an Ashton Williams own goal drew the Bluebirds level before Neil Mitchell and Callum Graybrook found the net. Matty Williams was sent off for Chirk, who grabbed a late consolation courtesy of Jack Edwards.

Guilsfield came from behind to win 2-1 away at Ruthin Town on Friday night. Sam Jones broke the deadlock for the hosts after 37 minutes, but Callum Bromley equalised just before half-time and TNS loanee Reece Warder completed the turnaround after the break.
