JD Cymru North round-up | Denbigh Town and Buckley Town play out record-breaking 11-goal thriller

Denbigh Town and Buckley Town played out the highest scoring JD Cymru North game since the pyramid restructure as Dewi Llion’s side triumphed 6-5 at Central Park on Friday night.

It was 3-3 after just 20 minutes of a thrilling encounter, with Denbigh leading on four separate occasions before Craig Pritchard’s incredible solo goal in the 72nd minute proved to be the winner. Nathan Brown and Matthew Worrall both scored braces for the hosts, who also had Harry Lockley sent off.

Llandudno moved off the bottom of the table by claiming their first points of the season in a 3-2 victory against Porthmadog on Friday. Billy Nicholas, Stephen Brown and Harvey Bennett all found the net for the Seasiders.

Gresford Athletic also claimed their first league win of the season, triumphing 4-1 over Llanidloes Town. A Dominic Deacon double alongside one each for Haci Ozlu and Charley Edge put the Colliers in cruise control before Dewi Allen’s late consolation for the Daffs.

Bangor 1876 came from behind to win 3-2 away at fellow newly-promoted side Caersws on Saturday, ending their three-match losing run in the league in the process.

A Craig Harris double put the Bluebirds in control at half-time, but Bangor were level just nine minutes into the second period through quick-fire goals from Liam Morris and Corrig McGonigle. Morris struck again in the 82ndminute to earn victory for Mike Johnston’s team.

The highest JD Cymru North crowd of the season – 916 – were in attendance to watch a 1-1 draw in the Flintshire derby between unbeaten pair Flint Town United and Holywell Town at the Essity Stadium on Saturday.

Jake Cooke’s sixth league goal of the season looked set to earn victory for the Wellmen, but when Flint forward Elliott Reeves was fouled in the box in stoppage time, Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro kept his cool to convert the penalty and level the affair. Danny Sullivan was sent off late on for Holywell.

Ruthin Town came from behind to win 3-2 against 10-man Chirk AAA on Saturday, with all of the goals coming in the first half.

The Colliers led 2-1 after a Tom Dyer own goal and Rhys Edwards’ strike cancelled out Soulayman El Amri’s opener, but they also had Josh Evans sent off. The man advantage allowed Ruthin to turn the game around through a Dyer penalty and Sam Jones’ finish.

Mold Alexandra moved up to fourth in the table with their third win in four league games, triumphing 3-0 over Guilsfield on Saturday. All of the goals came in the first half as Steve Watkins and Jake Roberts found the net alongside an Iwan Matthews own goal.
