JD Cymru North round-up | Holywell and Airbus win big to continue strong starts

Holywell Town made it three wins from three matches in the JD Cymru North with a thumping 5-1 victory away at Denbigh Town on Friday night. 

The hosts had Jason Foulkes sent off after just two minutes and the Wellmen took full advantage as Jake Cooke netted a brace alongside goals for Zebb Edwards, Brady McGilloway and Danny Andrews. Denbigh scored a late consolation through Jake Walker. 

The following day, Airbus UK Broughton also triumphed 5-1 away at Llanidloes Town to maintain their 100% record and go top of the table. 

The Daffs led after 31 minutes through Connor Bird, but Jake Eyre and Jordan Evans turned the game around by half-time before Joe Palmer, Sam Baker and George Peers added their names to the scoresheet in the second period. 

Bangor 1876 dropped points for the first time since promotion as they were beaten 3-1 away at Mold Alexandra. Danny Warren’s opener was cancelled out by Corrig McGonigle on the stroke of half-time after Sam Jones missed a penalty, but Sam Duffy struck in the second period before a late Dan Cox own goal. 

Summer signing Soulayman El Amri scored a 95th-minute equaliser for Ruthin Town in a 1-1 draw against Flint Town United. The Silkmen took the lead early in the second half through Josh Jones but then had Paddy Lacey sent off and could not hold on with 10 men late on. 

Guilsfield left it late to claim their first win of the campaign as Iwan Matthews scored an 81st-minute penalty to earn a 1-0 victory away at Porthmadog. 

Prestatyn Town and Caersws played out the first 0-0 draw in the JD Cymru North this season on Friday night, with Seasiders goalkeeper Michael Jones particularly busy in keeping the score goalless.
