JD Cymru North round-up | Caersws bounce back with big win

Caersws were the big winners in the JD Cymru North on Saturday afternoon as they triumphed 4-0 on home turf against Mold Alexandra.

The Bluebirds had been beaten by Denbigh Town in midweek, but bounced back by scoring four first half goals to stun the Alex. Sam Phillips, Rhys Hesden, Craig Harris and Neil Mitchell all found the net.

Fellow newly-promoted side Bangor 1876 made it three wins from three in the JD Cymru North by overcoming Denbigh Town 2-1. Sam Jones and Jamie Petrie put them two goals to the good at half-time, while Craig Pritchard’s superb second half strike couldn’t inspire a comeback for the visitors at Nantporth.

Airbus UK also sit on nine points after their 2-1 home victory over Porthmadog. Sam Baker scored the winner for the Wingmakers in the 81st minute after Morgan Owen’s penalty cancelled out Craig Lindfield’s opener.

Flint Town United have also made a strong start to life back in the second tier following relegation, making it two wins from two by beating Prestatyn Town 2-1.

Harley Brindley-Peagram broke the deadlock early on for the Silkmen before Dan Atkins missed a penalty for the visitors, while the second half saw Dylan Dunne equalise only for Elliott Reeves to net an 88th-minute winner for Flint.

Holywell Town continued their perfect start to the league campaign by triumphing 2-1 against a Llandudno side who remain without a point. Dave Forbes and Jake Cooke netted in the first half, while Yalany Baio halved the deficit after the break but the Seasiders couldn’t find an equaliser.

Chirk AAA got their first points of the season by claiming a 2-0 home victory over bottom-of-the-table Llanidloes Town on Sunday afternoon. Adam Williams and Max McLaughlin scored either side of half-time to help the Colliers get off the mark.

Gresford Athletic managed to earn a 1-1 draw away at Ruthin Town on Friday night despite playing the final 16 minutes with nine men. The Colliers were 1-0 up through Joe Chaplin’s early goal when Charlie Mann and Nathan Williams were both sent off in the space of four minutes, before substitute Andy Brown found an 81st-minute equaliser for Ruthin.

Elsewhere on Friday night, Buckley Town triumphed 1-0 away at Guilsfield. The only goal of the game came in the 27th minute when Max Moore finished well from Dylan Roberts’ cross.
