2023/24 Nathaniel MG Cup second round draw

Following the weekend’s round one ties, the second round draw for the 2023/24 Nathaniel MG Cup took place today (Monday 24 July).

The draw took place at the Marston’s Stadium, home of Afan Lido FC – the inaugural winners of the competition in 1993. Lido also lifted the trophy the following year and again in 2012, meaning only The New Saints and Barry Town United have done so on more occasions.

But there was to be no home tie for the JD Cymru South side, as they were drawn away at JD Cymru Premier outfit Penybont who are fresh off their first ever European campaign.

Elsewhere in the Southern section, last season’s two beaten semi-finalists Taffs Well and Cardiff Met come head to head, while there is an all-JD Cymru Premier clash between Barry Town United and Aberystwyth Town.

Wildcard entry Cardiff City have been drawn away against Haverfordwest County, while Swansea City are on home turf against Caerau Ely.

In the Northern section, last season’s JD Cymru Premier top two The New Saints and Connah’s Quay Nomads will meet again just as they did in round two last year.

Reigning champions Bala Town are away from home at Ruthin Town, while Gwynedd clubs Caernarfon Town and Porthmadog have been drawn together.

The ties will take place on 4/5 August.
