JD Cymru North round-up | Holywell Town earn crucial win over title rivals Flint Town United

Holywell Town claimed a potentially crucial victory in the JD Cymru North title race as they triumphed 1-0 over Flint Town United at the Achieve More Stadium on Saturday.

The decisive moment came in just the 14th minute, when Jamie Breese turned the ball home from close range for his sixth goal in six games since joining the Wellmen in January.

Johnny Haseldin’s side climb above the Silkmen into second place, two points behind leaders Airbus UK Broughton with three games in hand over the Wingmakers.

However, Airbus continue to be an immovable force at the summit of the table following an emphatic 6-0 home win over Prestatyn Town.

All six goals came from six different scorers, with Craig Lindfield, Nick Rushton, Sam Baker and Dan Collins putting Mark Allen’s side 4-0 up inside the opening 24 minutes. Kaiden Cooke and James Davies came off the bench and found the net late on to wrap up the victory.

Llandudno staged a remarkable late comeback to triumph 3-2 against Porthmadog at Y Traeth and move up to 10th in the table.

Goals from Danny Brookwell and Gethin Thomas saw Port take a stunning 2-0 lead after just 12 minutes as they aimed to end their eight-match losing streak.

That was the way it remained until the 84th minute when Llandudno captain Rowan Davies pulled one back for his side and the nerves ramped up for the hosts when Josh Banks was shown a second yellow card three minutes later. But as the clock hit 90 it was still Porthmadog who were collecting the three points.

However, Llandudno have been late goal specialists this season and they equalised in the fourth minute of stoppage time through Fabrizio Murtas. Four minutes later, Karl Clair netted the winner to spark wild scenes of celebration for the away side.

Fourth-place Mold Alexandra returned to winning ways in comfortable fashion with a 3-0 victory away at Guilsfield.

Danny Warren continued his remarkable goalscoring form to break the deadlock in the 24th minute, before defender Steve Watkins netted brace in the second half.

Owen Davies scored an 88th-minute penalty to earn a 2-1 win for Denbigh Town away at in-form Buckley Town.

Josh Lock latched on to Paul Fleming’s header to open the scoring after 13 minutes, but Buckley were level just after the half hour mark through Josh Jones’ volley from distance.

With just two minutes left on the clock, the Bucks were penalised for handball in the box and it was substitute Davies who converted from the spot to score his first senior goal.

Ruthin Town also left it late to secure three points in their 2-1 victory away at bottom-of-the-table Chirk AAA.

It was the struggling Colliers who took the lead after just nine minutes through Louie Middlehurst, but Harry Martin equalised six minutes before half-time. The winner arrived in the 86th minute as Jason Clark picked a vital moment to score his first Ruthin goal.

Bangor 1876 made it three consecutive wins in the JD Cymru North by triumphing 2-0 over Caersws at Nantporth.

Corrig McGonigle finished at the back post for his 22nd league goal of the campaign in the 31st minute, while Sam Jones doubled the advantage with a low drive on the hour mark.

Gresford Athletic returned to winning ways and climbed up to ninth in the table with a 2-0 victory away at Llanidloes Town on Friday night.

Charley Edge opened the scoring in first half stoppage time before Toby Gallagher-Keenan came off the bench after the break to add a second.
