Lee Kendall embarks on JD Cymru Premier fundraising challenge

Lee Kendall has made his name as a player and a coach in the JD Cymru Leagues and now he is about to embark on a unique fundraising challenge closely linked to the top-flight.

Kendall – who steered Barry Town United to promotion from the JD Cymru South last season – and his daughter Ella, of Pontypridd United Women U19s, are running a marathon over the course of this weekend, putting in 2.2 miles at each of the JD Cymru Premier’s 12 clubs.

They begin at 9am on Friday 1 March at Caernarfon Town, then on to Colwyn Bay at 11am, 2pm at Connah’s Quay Nomads, and then finish the day at 5pm at TNS.

On Saturday, they’ll take in Bala Town, Newtown, Aberystwyth Town, and Haverfordwest County; and on Sunday they’ll be at Penybont, Barry Town, Cardiff Met, and Pontypridd Town.

It is all to raise money for the Velindre Cancer Centre, who are currently caring for Lee’s mother.

“They have been fantastic and my family and I would like to support what they do, because we’ve been blown away by the care my mum’s had,” says Lee. “We want to raise awareness of them and the brilliant work they do.”
