Airbus UK Broughton 2-0 Treowen Stars
- Welsh Blood Service League Cup Final
- Saturday 25 April 2026
- Latham Park, Newtown
Airbus UK Broughton lifted the Welsh Blood Service League Cup for the second year in a row following a 2-0 win over a valiant Treowen Stars side at Latham Park.
Goals either side of half-time from George Peers and substitute James Davies earned victory for the Wingmakers, who secure silverware at the end of a season which has also seen them win promotion to the JD Cymru Premier.
The sun was beating down in Newtown and the heat perhaps played a part in a cagey first half as neither side could keep the ball for long periods and clear cut chances were at a minimum.
Airbus did have the best chances of the opening exchanges though, as Jordan Evans’ strike was tipped over the bar before Danny Warren headed just over.

The Wingmakers’ breakthrough eventually came in the 41st minute, when JD Cymru North Player of the Season nominee George Peers was fouled in the box and he picked himself up to calmly convert from the penalty spot.
Mark Allen’s side took that lead into the break and quickly set about trying to add to it in the second half, with Danny Warren coming close on a couple of occasions before Treowen Stars defender Callum Hodges stood firm to block an effort from Peers.
James Davies was introduced to the action in the 70th minute and made an instant impact as he doubled Airbus’ lead just five minutes later. Nathan Williams delivered a cross into the box and the substitute turned the ball in via the underside of the crossbar.
That ultimately put the game beyond Treowen, who have enjoyed a memorable cup run and did apply pressure late on, but they could find no reward as Airbus held on to get their hands back on the trophy.
