Cardiff City and Swansea City have been confirmed as the wildcard entries for the 2025/26 Nathaniel MG Cup.

It is the third successive season that the two clubs will take part in the Nathaniel MG Cup, with both sides using the competition to provide valuable opportunities for academy players in senior football.

Swansea City reached the final in 2023/24 before defeat to The New Saints, while Cardiff City were beaten by Aberystwyth Town on penalties in last season’s semi-finals.

The likes of Cian Ashford, Ronan Kpakio, Cameron Congreve and Joel Cotterill have all gone on to earn first team minutes in the EFL since featuring in the Nathaniel MG Cup, while Bluebirds teenager Kpakio was included in the Cymru senior squad for this month’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The 2025/26 Nathaniel MG Cup Round One and Two draws will be broadcast at 8pm on Wednesday 25 June, with full details to be confirmed in due course.
