December’s Player and Manager of the Month shortlist

The shortlist for December’s Player and Manager of the Month awards in the JD Cymru Leagues has been confirmed.

The fans’ vote will be combined with a league and independent voting panel to determine the winners.


JD Cymru Premier

Manager of the Month

Colin Caton – Bala Town

An undefeated month for Bala Town in the JD Cymru Premier as Colin Caton’s side claimed seven points from nine with victories over champions The New Saints and Barry Town United before being held to a Boxing Day draw with Aberystwyth Town.

Andy Dyer – Briton Ferry Llansawel

Victories over Newtown and Cardiff Met before a New Year’s Eve draw with Barry Town United meant that Briton Ferry Llansawel moved into 2025 just one point from safety. Andy Dyer’s squad suffered with a number of injuries early in the season but now look a much stronger outfit as they adapt to top-flight football.

Rhys Griffiths – Penybont

Despite dropping down to second place in the table, Penybont were undefeated throughout the month of December with wins over Haverfordwest County and Barry Town United before being held to a 2-2 draw with Cardiff Met live on Sgorio. Rhys Griffiths’ side now sit just a point behind league leaders The New Saints.

Player of the Month

Alex Gammond – Briton Ferry Llansawel

The captain led by example in December and scored a late winner in the 2-1 victory over Newtown at the start of the month. The 30-year old central defender then delivered a commanding display against Cardiff Met and played a key role in his side keeping a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw with Barry Town United at the end of the year.

Rhys Hughes – Connah’s Quay Nomads

The Nomads scored eight league goals during December with Rhys Hughes adding three to his own personal tally. Following his penalty in the 1-1 draw with Caernarfon Town, Hughes scored twice and provided an assist in the 7-2 Boxing Day victory over Flint Town United.

Louis Lloyd – Caernarfon Town

The 21-year old played every minute of every game for Caernarfon Town in December and scored four goals in the process, including a brace in the 3-2 win over Barry Town United. Lloyd has now scored 10 goals in 20 JD Cymru Premier appearances this season.

Jordan Williams – The New Saints

The festive season proved successful for Jordan Williams as he played a key role in taking champions The New Saints back to the top of the table. Williams scored four goals and registered an assist as his side claimed victories over Briton Ferry Llansawel, Caernarfon Town and Connah’s Quay Nomads.


JD Cymru North

Manager of the Month

Eddie Maurice-Jones – Gresford Athletic

A perfect month for Gresford Athletic delivered victories over Prestatyn Town, Caersws and Ruthin Town with Eddie Maurice-Jones’ side scoring eight goals and keeping two clean sheets in the process. Their nine point return has made their league position much healthier heading into 2025.

Jordan Hadaway – Llandudno

Another team with a perfect December record, Llandudno recorded wins over Mold Alexandra, Ruthin Town and Prestatyn Town. The side scored nine goals to claim nine points and with it move into the top half of the JD Cymru North table.

Michael Wilde – Colwyn Bay

Colwyn Bay continue to keep the pressure on league leaders Airbus UK Broughton and Michael Wilde’s side claimed six points from a possible six in December with victories over Ruthin Town and Bangor 1876. The side also scored six goals and now sit four points off top spot.

Player of the Month

Kaiden Cooke – Airbus UK Broughton

The teenager scored two goals and recorded two assists in December as Airbus UK Broughton continue to set the pace in the JD Cymru North with victories over Caersws and Buckley Town. The 18-year old Cooke had previously only scored one league goal for the club this season.

Gwion Dafydd – Colwyn Bay

Another teenager impressing for his club at the top of the JD Cymru North is Gwion Dafydd and the 19-year old scored three goals in two games during December, including a double in the 3-0 win over Ruthin Town. Dafydd now has 14 goals in just 18 league games this season.

Sam Duffy – Denbigh Town

Three goals and an assist in three games made it a memorable month for Sam Duffy as Denbigh Town took four points in the JD Cymru North. Duffy played every minute of all three games in December and has scored seven goals during the current league campaign.

Paul Johnson – Gresford Athletic

The 29-year old opened his account for the season with two goals and an assist for Gresford Athletic in the 6-2 win over Prestatyn Town. Johnson then played an important role as his side kept a clean sheet to defeat Caersws 1-0 at the end of the month.


JD Cymru South

Manager of the Month

Andy Hill – Trefelin

An undefeated month for Trefelin as Andy Hill’s side claimed seven points from a possible nine with victories over Newport City and Baglan Dragons followed by a 1-1 derby draw with Afan Lido. The 4-3 win over Newport City proving to be particularly dramatic as Trefelin scored three goals in the final 10 minutes.

Sam Houldsworth – Newport City

Victories over Caerau Ely and Cwmbran Celtic earned Newport City six points from nine during the month of December and they now sit in the top half of the JD Cymru South table in their first season at this level. The side also scored seven goals during the month.

Lee John – Llanelli

Llanelli moved to the top of the JD Cymru South table during December with two wins and a draw. Following a 1-1 draw with Cambrian United, 2-0 victories over Ammanford and Baglan Dragons were enough to move Lee John’s side a point above Trethomas Bluebirds and into pole position.

Player of the Month

Ben Haines – Afan Lido

The 19-year old goalkeeper put in a superb performance to earn his side a point in the 1-1 draw with Trefelin following his clean sheet in the 3-0 win away to local rivals Goytre United. The former Cardiff Met youngster has now established himself as a key player in this Afan Lido side.

Kori Parker – Trefelin

The teenager was ever-present for Trefelin during an undefeated month and scored the winner in added time as his side defeated Newport City 4-3. It was Parker’s first goal in the JD Cymru South following his move from Briton Ferry Llansawel in the summer.

Louis Phillips – Newport City

Another 19-year old making a big impression during December was Newport City’s Louis Phillips. With two goals and two assists, Phillips played every minute of all three games during the month as his side claimed six points.

Danny Williams – Llanelli

With two goals and an assist over the festive period, Danny Williams has played a key role in Llanelli moving to the top of the JD Cymru South table with seven points from a possible nine. The 25-year old was ever-present during the month and his goal earned his side a point in the 1-1 draw with Cambrian United.
