Denbigh Town link up with Foster Wales to spread awareness in local area

Denbigh Town are helping to raise awareness of a crucial local authority role in the community and across the country.

The JD Cymru North club are working with Foster Wales and helping them spread awareness and information to families within Denbighshire.

One of the ways they are doing that is by hosting a Foster Wales banner at the ground – so that the organisation name will be visible on all matchdays.

“Playing football at a high level we do realise that we can get a lot more exposure to not only television and press but also to the wider audience through social media,” says Neall Condon, club secretary. “Foster Wales do a terrific job, and we feel that if we can help in a small way in getting their message across, we will do so.”

“Foster Wales Denbighshire is dedicated to working as a team with foster carers to build better futures for local children by helping them stay in their local area to help them remain in their local schools, sports clubs and keep them close to their local connections and friends,” says Elicia Mills, Foster Wales Recruitment Officer.

Linking up with important organisations in a local area – like Denbigh Town – is crucial to spreading Foster Wales’ message and potentially reaching new foster carers. With the club now playing in the second tier after promotion last season, they are hosting teams from further afield – and they have also welcomed youth international fixtures this season in the Victory Shueld, meaning that the potential audience is getting bigger and bigger.

“We are pleased to be associated with Denbighshire Foster Wales,” says Denbigh manager Dewi Llion Jones. “Currently, 180 children are fostered in Denbighshire to just 41 foster families, so the need to recruit more foster families has never been more vital than it is today.”

“We work together to build better futures for local children, and connection and collaboration is at the heart of everything we do,” adds Elicia. “We’re not a distant organisation. We’re part of your community. Building better futures for local children is what we’re all about. It’s what matters most.”
