Play-off wins secure promotion for Holyhead Hotspur and Ynyshir Albions

Holyhead Hotspur and Ynyshir Albions complete the JD Cymru Leagues lineup for 2025/26 following their respective victories in the tier three play-offs.

Both clubs were relegated from the second tier in 2023 but make their return after two years in the Ardal Leagues.

Holyhead Hotspur are back in the JD Cymru North after a 3-0 win over Llanuwchllyn, who were beaten in the Ardal North play-off for the second consecutive year.

Cory Williams broke through the Llanuwchllyn defence to poke home the opener just after the half hour mark, before Ifan Emlyn Jones capitalised on a poor clearance from opposing goalkeeper Rob Dascalu to double the advantage from distance on 70 minutes.

Promotion was sealed when Williams bagged his second of the night soon after, before a straight red card for Dan Dascalu increased Llanuwchllyn’s woes.

Also promoted to the JD Cymru North are Ardal North West champions Rhyl 1879 and Ardal North East winners Brickfield Rangers.

Ynyshir Albions are back in the JD Cymru South after a two-year absence

Meanwhile, Ynyshir Albion’s place in the JD Cymru South was secured courtesy of a 2-0 victory against Chepstow Town.

After a goalless first half at the CCB Centre For Sporting Excellence, Cory Morgan produced a clinical finish into the top corner to put the Buns ahead six minutes after the break.

Substitute Jorrie-Blue Griffiths grabbed the decisive second goal in the 79th minute when he prodded home in the box after Chepstow failed to deal with Joseff Haig’s corner.

Ardal South West champions Cardiff Draconians and Ardal South East winners Treowen Stars will also compete in the JD Cymru South next season.

Full league compositions for 2025/26, along with season dates and fixture release days, will be confirmed in due course.
