JD Cymru Leagues games to watch | 27-28 October

Here are the key games to keep an eye on across the JD Cymru Leagues during the final weekend of October.

JD Cymru Premier – Connah’s Quay Nomads v Caernarfon Town (Friday, 7:45pm)

It is second versus third in the JD Cymru Premier this weekend as Connah’s Quay Nomads host Caernarfon Town at the Essity Stadium.

The Nomads are on a 10-match unbeaten run in the league, winning eight of those. They are currently three points behind leaders The New Saints but have played one game more.

Six points further back are Caernarfon, who have caught the eye with a series of impressive performances this season. The Cofis have won three out of their last four league matches, including an emphatic 5-1 triumph over Cardiff Met last weekend as Sion Bradley scored a hat-trick.

Two of the JD Cymru Premier’s top four goalscorers will be on opposing sides on Friday night – the Nomads’ Jordan Davies (11 goals) and Caernarfon’s Adam Davies (eight). Davies’ strike partner Zack Clarke is only just behind on seven.

The Nomads have been comfortable winners in both of the two meetings between the two sides so far this season, winning 4-0 in the league in September before a 4-1 JD Welsh Cup victory only two weeks ago.

JD Cymru North – Prestatyn Town v Llanidloes Town (Saturday, 2:30pm)

It may only be October, but Llanidloes Town’s trip to Prestatyn Town on Saturday could prove to be vital in the JD Cymru North relegation battle.

Llanidloes currently sit in the relegation zone on five points, following just one win from their opening eight league matches. The Daffs are five points adrift of safety and 13th-place Prestatyn, but the Seasiders have played two games more.

Karl Clair’s side come into game following a penalty shootout defeat to Guilsfield in the Nathaniel MG Cup in midweek, while Llanidloes lost 3-1 to Gresford in the JD Welsh Cup last weekend.

Prestatyn triumphed 3-0 at Victoria Park in the last meeting between the two sides in April following a 2-2 draw at Bastion Gardens earlier in the season.

JD Cymru South – Afan Lido v Cwmbran Celtic (Friday, 7:30pm)

Two of the JD Cymru South’s most in-form teams meet on Friday night as Afan Lido host Cwmbran Celtic.

Lido are currently second in the table, one point behind leaders Briton Ferry Llansawel, and have only lost one league game all season. Paul Evans’ side have won back-to-back matches against Llantwit Major and Baglan Dragons.

Cwmbran Celtic have also won their last two games, against Abertillery Bluebirds and Caerau Ely, to rise to sixth in the table. James Kinsella’s team are on a five-match unbeaten run in the JD Cymru South.

Afan Lido have been victorious in the last four meetings between the two clubs, with Ben Keen scoring a 91st-minute winner as the Reds came from behind to triumph 2-1 in their most recent encounter in February.
