The JD Cymru North and JD Cymru South action continues on Tuesday with some intriguing midweek match-ups.
Colwyn Bay vs Holywell Town (Tuesday, 7:45pm)
Colwyn Bay and Holywell Town have both been tipped as JD Cymru North title contenders this season, but they have had contrasting starts to the campaign.
Michael Wilde’s reign as Bay manager started with a 4-0 home defeat to Bangor 1876 on the opening day, while the Seagulls also suffered a 2-0 loss to Aberystwyth Town in the Nathaniel MG Cup last weekend.
Meanwhile, a Jamie Breese hat-trick inspired Holywell to a 6-0 thrashing of Prestatyn Town on the opening weekend of the league season – which came in between Nathaniel MG Cup wins over Caersws and Llay Miners Welfare.
The two sides were involved in a fascinating JD Cymru North title race two seasons ago, with the Bay claiming a convincing 6-1 triumph early in the campaign before the Wellmen got revenge with a 3-1 victory seven months later – but it was not enough to deny the Seagulls the title.
Newport City vs Cambrian United (Tuesday, 6:45pm)
Newly-promoted Newport City announced themselves in the JD Cymru South with a 3-1 victory over Ammanford on the opening weekend and they will aim to make it two wins from two when they host Cambrian United on Tuesday evening.
Summer signing Nat Jarvis scored twice as the Steelmen overcame last season’s third-placed side, while Sam Houldsworth’s team are unbeaten at home since September last year.
Cambrian United were also 3-1 winners on the opening weekend of the season, as Josh Allen’s brace inspired them to victory away at Cwmbran Celtic.
The Rhondda side have been busy in the transfer market in recent days, with Tom Hillman and Danny Birch both arriving from Llanelli Town.
Newport City scored 98 goals in 30 league matches last season, while Cambrian had the best defence in the JD Cymru South so this should be an intriguing match-up.
