JD Cymru Leagues Games to Watch: 20-21 February

Another huge weekend of JD Cymru Leagues action awaits, with key implications at the top and bottom of the league tables. Here are the key games to keep an eye on.

JD Cymru Premier – Llanelli Town v Haverfordwest County (Friday, 7:45pm)

Llanelli Town will be relegated from the JD Cymru Premier if they lose at home against Haverfordwest County on Friday night.

It has been a challenging season back in the top-flight for the Reds, who despite earning a 1-1 draw away at Cardiff Met last week to end their seven-match losing streak, remain 19 points adrift of safety with seven games to play.

Danny Williams scored the only goal as Llanelli Town defeated Haverfordwest County in September

A win or draw for Terry Boyle’s side on Friday may still not be enough to see them survive another week as they will then have to hope Flint Town United do not at least equal their result at home against Cardiff Met on Saturday.

Haverfordwest have enjoyed the perfect start to Phase Two, securing three consecutive wins and clean sheets for the first time ever in the top-flight. The Bluebirds triumphed 3-0 at home over Bala Town last Friday and currently sit three points clear at the top of the Play-Off Conference.

One of Llanelli’s only two league wins this season came against Haverfordwest at Stebonheath in Phase One (1-0), while the Reds also triumphed 3-0 at home over the Bluebirds in the JD Welsh Cup second round. However, Tony Pennock’s side were 3-0 winners in the reverse Phase One fixture on Boxing Day at Ogi Bridge Meadow.

JD Cymru Premier – Briton Ferry Llansawel v Bala Town (Saturday, 12:30pm)

Bala Town will be looking to aid their survival bid when they travel to Briton Ferry Llansawel for a Saturday lunchtime clash, live on Sgorio.

Bala currently find themselves four points adrift of safety after losses to Flint Town United and Haverfordwest County either side of a 1-1 draw with Cardiff Met in Phase Two so far. The Lakesiders have been in the JD Cymru Premier for 17 consecutive years but their top-flight status has never been in this much danger with seven games remaining.

Briton Ferry Llansawel v Bala Town

Ninth-place Briton Ferry head into this fixture five points clear of the bottom two, so will see this as a major opportunity to ease any relegation nerves and potentially challenge for a play-off place – they currently trail Haverfordwest by four points. The Reds earned a goalless draw away at Flint last weekend and have only lost one of their last six matches.

Nothing could separate the two sides in a 2-2 draw at Maes Tegid in September, but goals from Ricky Lee-Owen and Alex Gammond earned Ferry a 2-0 win in November’s reverse Phase One fixture.

JD Cymru North – Ruthin Town v Airbus UK Broughton (Friday, 7:45pm)

There could be implications at both ends of the JD Cymru North standings when bottom-of-the-table Ruthin Town host title challengers Airbus UK Broughton at the Memorial Playing Fields on Friday.

Ruthin claimed their first win of 2026 with a 1-0 victory away at Brickfield Rangers last weekend, but 15th-place Penrhyncoch were also victorious, meaning Colin Caton’s side remain bottom of the table on goal difference. However, just three points now separate the bottom six, setting up a fascinating end of season run-in.

Airbus have won their last eight consecutive matches in all competitions

Airbus’s 3-1 victory away at Rhyl 1879 last weekend extended their winning streak in all competitions to eight matches. The Wingmakers sit second in the table, two points behind leaders Llandudno who have a game in hand, but 18 points clear of fourth-place Newtown – meaning a top three finish could be sealed within the next month.

Airbus have won their last five meetings against Ruthin, keeping clean sheets in four of those, including a 4-0 victory in November’s reverse fixture and a 7-0 win last season.

JD Cymru South – Ammanford v Cambrian United (Friday, 7:30pm)

The battle at the top of the JD Cymru South continues to heat up as fourth-place Ammanford host leaders Cambrian United at the Rec on Friday night.

Ammanford dropped points for the third game in a row in a goalless draw with Trethomas Bluebirds last weekend, but Wyn Thomas’ side are still just one point adrift of the promotion places. They have not gone four league games without a win since April 2024.

Cambrian United have won their last seven consecutive games in the JD Cymru South

Cambrian continued their stellar form with a 3-0 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Caerau Ely last Friday – their seventh consecutive league win and fourth straight clean sheet. The Rhondda side are currently two points clear of second-place Trefelin, who have a game in hand and kept up the pressure with a 3-0 win over Baglan Dragons in midweek.

Ammanford are one of only four teams to take points off Cambrian in the JD Cymru South this season, with the two sides playing out a 1-1 draw in November.
