JD Cymru Leagues October Player and Manager of the Month shortlist

The shortlist for the October Player and Manager of the Month awards in the JD Cymru Leagues has been confirmed.

The fans’ vote will be combined with a league and independent voting panel to determine the winners.

JD Cymru Premier

Manager of the Month

John Disney – Connah’s Quay Nomads

The former defender is settling well into management. His Nomads side claimed three wins and a draw during October and scored three goals in each of their four league games as a 3-3 draw with Haverfordwest County followed on from victories over Llanelli Town, Bala Town and Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Craig Harrison – The New Saints

The New Saints enjoyed another perfect month with comprehensive wins over Barry Town United, Caernarfon Town, Penybont and Llanelli Town taking them nine points clear at the top of the table. There was no shortage of goals either from the champions as the Saints scored 17 in those four fixtures, conceding just three.

Mike Wilde – Colwyn Bay

Colwyn Bay climbed up to fifth in the table in October as Mike Wilde’s side took ten points from their four league games and did not concede a single goal. Victories over Caernarfon Town, Flint Town United and Briton Ferry Llansawel delivered their best return with only a 0-0 draw against Cardiff Met denying them a perfect October.

Player of the Month

Ryan Brobbel – The New Saints

The 32-year-old was a valuable contributor to The New Saints’ form in October with three goals and an assist in their four victories. The midfielder now has six league goals and five assists for the season and continues to be a key player for Craig Harrisons’ side.

CJ Craven – Cardiff Met

A goal in the 3-1 win over Llanelli Town and two assists in the 4-1 win over Flint Town United helped Cardiff Met to three wins from their four games. The Archers skipper also helped clean sheets against Bala Town and Colwyn Bay, while playing every minute of every game in the league for his side in October.

Rhys Hughes – Connah’s Quay Nomads

An important player for Connah’s Quay Nomads during October, Rhys Hughes scored in the 3-1 win over Bala Town but also contributed four assists in the victories over Llanelli Town and Briton Ferry Llansawel as well as in the 3-3 draw with Haverfordwest County.

Nathan Peate – Colwyn Bay

One of the most consistent performers in the JD Cymru Premier, the 34-year-old played every minute of every league match for Colwyn Bay during the month as they claimed three wins and a draw and did not concede a single goal.


JD Cymru North

Manager of the Month

Jordan Hadaway – Llandudno

Llandudno claimed an impressive three wins from their three fixtures in the JD Cymru North during October and kept two clean sheets. Jordan Hadaway’s side are in second place in the table following victories over Caersws, Buckley Town and a statement 5-0 win over title rivals Airbus UK Broughton.

Johnny Haseldin – Holywell Town

October began for Holywell Town with a very creditable 0-0 draw against Airbus UK Broughton, but subsequent victories over Penrhyncoch and Mold Alexandra have made Johnny Haseldin’s side genuine title contenders.

Nathan Leonard – Newtown

Despite a 3-0 defeat to Buckley Town at the start of the month, Nathen Leonard’s Newtown recovered to take maximum points during the rest of October with victories over Brickfield Rangers, Holyhead Hotspur and Gresford Athletic.

Player of the Month

Nathan Brown – Denbigh Town

It was a memorable month for Nathan Brown as the 27-year-old scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Rhyl 1879 before scoring the equaliser in added time to earn his side a share of the points in the 2-2 draw with local rivals Ruthin Town. Brown also played every minute for his side during October.

Brad Knight – Buckley Town

In addition to his goals against Newtown and Llandudno in October, Brad Knight also contributed three assists in the resounding 7-0 victory over Gresford Athletic. It was the perfect send off for the 21-year-old, who has now departed Buckley for Australia.

Craig Lindfield – Holywell Town

The goals of Craig Lindfield have been key to Holywell Town’s success this season, and it was during October that he scored both in the 2-1 win over Mold Alexandra. Lindfield was also on target against Penrhyncoch and is currently joint top scorer in the JD Cymru North.

Sam Rickett – Airbus UK Broughton

Another player who has played every minute for his club this month, defender Sam Rickett has played an important role in Airbus UK Broughton claiming seven points during October as his side also kept three clean sheets in the process.


JD Cymru South

Manager of the Month

Nana Baah – Cardiff Draconians

It was an undefeated October for Cardiff Draconians as Nana Baah’s side claimed victories over Cwmbran Celtic and Trethomas Bluebirds either side of a 0-0 draw against Ynyshir Albions. The side also conceded just one league goal during the month.

Karl Lewis – Llantwit Major

Llantwit Major also enjoyed an undefeated month in the JD Cymru South. A 1-1 draw at Baglan Dragons was followed by back-to-back victories over Pontypridd United and Ynyshir Albions to earn seven points from a possible nine.

Dean Wheeler – Caerau Ely

An impressive 4-3 win over Newport City was the headline result for Dean Wheeler’s Caerau Ely in a month that began with a 2-0 win at Cwmbran Celtic. The side currently sit third in the JD Cymru South table having lost just two games this season.

Player of the Month

Jack Bevan – Llantwit Major

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an excellent October for Llantwit Major having scored in every JD Cymru South fixture this month. Bevan was on target in the 1-1 draw with Baglan Dragons and the 2-0 win over Pontypridd United, and then scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Ynyshir Albions.

Ethan Edwards – Pontypridd United

After a tricky start to life at Pontypridd United following a summer move from Trethomas Bluebirds, Ethan Edwards found his feet in October with three goals and two assists. His goal and two assists proved crucial in the 5-2 win over Treowen Stars, before he bagged a brace in the defeat against Cambrian United.

Nathan Logan – Baglan Dragons

Although his side did not claim a win during October, Nathan Logan scored four goals in three games to earn Baglan Dragons a share of the points in two 1-1 draws against Llantwit Major and local rivals Afan Lido, before scoring twice in the 4-3 defeat to Treowen Stars.

Sam Roberts – Cardiff Draconians

The scorer of both goals in the 2-1 win over Cwmbran Celtic at the start of the month, 24-year-old Sam Roberts also contributed an assist in the 3-0 win over Trethomas Bluebirds to help keep his Cardiff Draconians side in the top half of the JD Cymru South table.
