JD Cymru North | 2023/24 season preview

The 2023/24 JD Cymru North campaign kicks off this weekend, with plenty more drama awaiting in a league that saw the title race go down to the wire last season.

Flint Town United and Airbus UK Broughton will both be aiming to bounce back to the JD Cymru Premier at the first time of asking following relegation last season.

The Wingmakers have appointed Mark Allen as manager to lead the charge, while the Silkmen have signed Tom Hilditch from Prestatyn Town who netted 20 times in the division last season and was nominated for the Young Player of the Season award.

Holywell Town went on a 25-match unbeaten run last season and would have won the title at a canter were it not for Colwyn Bay’s remarkable campaign, so Johnny Haseldin will hope for another strong year.

Meanwhile, it has been all change at last season’s third-place side Llandudno – who have a new-look squad and are led by the JD Cymru Leagues’ youngest manager in 22-year-old Jordan Hadaway.

Denbigh Town are back in the second tier following relegation in 2019 after winning the Ardal North West last season, while Caersws lifted the Ardal North East title to end their four-year absence from this level.

Ardal North play-off winners Bangor 1876 completed the JD Cymru North by beating Cefn Albion in May and they have already made a statement of intent by overcoming Holywell Town in the Nathaniel MG Cup last weekend.
