JD Cymru North round-up | Alex Boss hits 12-minute hat-trick in emphatic Llandudno win

Airbus UK Broughton left it late to maintain top spot in the JD Cymru North with a thrilling 3-2 victory away at Ruthin Town on Saturday afternoon.

Ruthin took a surprise lead ten minutes into the second half as Tom Dyer scored from the penalty spot, but two goals in the space of six minutes from James Davies and Ollie Lanceley turned the game around in the Wingmakers’ favour.

Their lead did not last long however as Gwion Owen clawed Ruthin back on to level terms, but Airbus flexed their title credentials as Davies fired home his second of the afternoon to win the game with just eight minutes remaining.

Second-place Flint Town United continued their pursuit of the league leaders with a brilliant second half performance to defeat bottom side Chirk AAA 3-0 at the Essity Stadium.

Jake Mann’s own goal set the ball rolling for the Silkmen just before the hour mark, before Elliot Reeves and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro both found the net in the final 15 minutes.

Holywell Town also kept pace in the title race by defeating Caersws 2-1 at the Recreation Ground to earn a seventh consecutive victory.

Jamie Breese continued his impressive start to life with the Wellmen by opening the scoring from the penalty spot on 61 minutes, but Craig Harris levelled for the Bluebirds with his seventh league goal of the season.

It was another January signing who proved pivotal for Holywell, as Mike Pearson headed home a 95th-minute winner for the away side.

Buckley Town’s recent resurgence continued as they became the first side to win away at Mold Alexandra this season with a 2-1 victory at Alyn Park.

Liam Driscoll’s ninth goal of the season gave the Bucks the lead just before the break and after dominating most of the second half, the hosts finally got themselves back on level terms as Danny Warren set up Steve Watkins for the equaliser on 70 minutes.

However, Mold were stunned nine minutes from time as Buckley edged back in front courtesy of substitute Max Moore’s clinical finish. Victory moves the Bucks seven points clear of the relegation zone.

JD Cymru North top scorer Corrig McGonigle was at the heart of the action once again as Bangor 1876 defeated Gresford Athletic 3-1 at The Rock on Friday night.

McGonigle’s 25th-minute penalty was cancelled out by Haci Ozlu’s finish early in the second half, but the Bangor frontman found the net again for his 21st league goal of the season to restore his side’s lead.

Four minutes later, Mason Blackwell-Jones found the target to secure back-to-back victories for Mike Johnston’s side.

Denbigh Town bounced back from defeat in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup last weekend by triumphing 3-1 over Porthmadog at Central Park.

Paul Fleming set up Josh Lock for the opener after just nine minutes, before the Denbigh skipper found the net himself early in the second half.

Nathan Williams scored to give Port a glimmer of hope heading into the final quarter of an hour, but Nathan Brown’s 86th-minute goal ensured Denbigh secured all three points.

Llandudno were the biggest winners of the weekend in the JD Cymru North after Alex Boss’ hat-trick inspired them to a 6-1 victory over Llanidloes Town at the OPS Wind Arena.

Ethan Roberts and Mckenzie Slaven gave the Seasiders a two-goal lead at the break, but Nyasha Mwamuka halved the deficit for the Daffs in the 74th minute.

In a remarkable end to the contest, Boss scored three times in the space of 12 minutes before Danny Holland wrapped up the win from the penalty spot as Llandudno moved seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Prestatyn Town and Guilsfield were forced to settle for a point apiece in a 1-1 draw at Bastion Gardens on Saturday.

The in-form Iwan Matthews scored his seventh goal in as many games to give the visitors the lead in the 29thminute, but the Seasiders levelled just four minutes into the second half s Tom Weir scored from the penalty spot.
