JD Cymru North round-up | Buckley Town end losing streak with comeback win

Airbus UK Broughton missed the chance to go top of the JD Cymru North by conceding a stoppage-time equaliser in a 3-3 draw against Caersws.

In a topsy-turvy encounter, Caersws led 2-1 at half-time thanks to Ben Jones’ brace, but Airbus turned the game around in the opening nine minutes of the second period courtesy of quick-fire goals from substitute Bradley Knight and James Davies.

The Wingmakers remained in front until the 95th minute, when Caersws were awarded a penalty following Keighan Jones’ foul on Sam Phillips in the box. Neil Mitchell stepped up to coolly convert from the spot and earn the Bluebirds a point.

There was also late drama at the Memorial Playing Fields, where Buckley Town ended their four-match losing streak in the league by coming from behind to beat Ruthin Town 3-2.

The Bucks led early on through Liam Driscoll, but Ruthin turned the game around as Jake Hampson and Soulayman El Amri found the net. Vita Mbolokele then put into his own net to level the game, but Buckley were reduced to 10 men when goalkeeper Louis Downey was sent off.

Downey had earlier been substituted on for injured shot-stopper Ryan Goldston, meaning defender Danny Burgess had to go between the sticks for the final 13 minutes. Nonetheless, Max Moore found an 88th-minute winner for Buckley, who finished the game with nine men following a second yellow card for Asa Hamilton in stoppage time.

Porthmadog recovered from the worst possible start to earn a 3-1 win on home turf against Prestatyn Town.

The Seasiders led inside the first minute through Ben Jones, but Rhys Alun Williams equalised for Port in the first half before goals from Shaun Cavanagh and Danny Brookwell won the game in the second period.
