James Davies scored a hat-trick as JD Cymru North leaders Airbus UK Broughton made it five league wins in a row with a 4-0 triumph over Denbigh Town at Central Park on Friday night.
George Peers had a goal ruled out for offside in the 40th minute but Davies, who also netted four goals against Denbigh on the opening weekend of the campaign, found the breakthrough two minutes later when he latched onto Tom Dougherty’s long ball and fired past Aaron Jones.
Oli Lanceley headed home at the back post to double the advantage early in the second half, before Davies grabbed his second of the night by scoring on the rebound after Kaiden Cooke’s effort hit the post. Davies completed his hat-trick on 78 minutes with another fierce strike, this time from Peers’ defence-splitting pass.
Second-place Colwyn Bay remain four points behind Airbus as they came from behind to beat Llay Welfare 2-1 at The Ring on Saturday.
Jonathan Collo’s lob over Rhys Williams gave Llay the advantage after just eight minutes, but their lead lasted only seven minutes as Craig Lindfield brought Bay level with a sweetly-struck effort through a number of bodies.
The winning goal arrived just before the hour mark when Lindfield volleyed in from Sam Hart’s corner to secure a 10th consecutive league victory for the Seagulls.
Penrhyncoch climbed to ninth in the table as Cameron Allen’s four-goal haul inspired the Roosters to a 5-0 win over Llandudno at Cae Baker on Saturday afternoon.
After a goalless first half, the hosts took control of the game after the hour mark as Allen scored twice in the space of six minutes. The teenager struck twice more in the closing stages either side of Dan Owen’s neat complete Penrhyncoch’s biggest victory in the second tier in over eight years.
Llandudno are now only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference after Gresford Athletic snatched a point in a 2-2 draw against Mold Alexandra on Friday night.
The Colliers led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Ilan Ap Gareth’s stunning first-time volley into the top corner just after the half hour mark.
However, Mold turned the game around with two goals in the space of 10 minutes in the second half as Emmanuel Lawal and Craig Rogers both scored free-kicks.
That appeared to have earned a third straight away win for the Alex, but in the first minute of stoppage time Charlie Mann swung in a corner and Dave Forbes managed to force the ball home in a crowded box.
Third-place Holywell Town earned back-to-back wins for the first time since September as they triumphed 2-1 at home over Guilsfield on Saturday.
Jamie Breese’s header from Danny Andrews’ cross put the Wellmen ahead in the 17th minute, but they were pegged back just four minutes later as Jake Cook’s sublime strike from distance nestled into the back of the net.
Johnny Haseldin’s side posed more of an attacking threat in the early stages of the second half and they were rewarded for their efforts as Macauley Taylor, who had only come off the bench nine minutes earlier, sent a crisp volley into the top corner in the 66th minute.
Buckley Town made it three consecutive league victories with a 2-0 win away to Prestatyn Town on Friday night.
Danny Holland rolled home his second league goal of the season from the penalty spot to give the Bucks a narrow lead shortly before the break, before they clinched victory midway through the second half when Max Moore latched onto Adam Boydell’s through ball and slotted past Robbie Williams.
Victory cemented Buckley’s position in fourth place – with a game in hand over the teams above them – while it was a seventh straight league loss for struggling Prestatyn.
Bangor 1876 returned to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 victory at home to Ruthin Town on Friday night.
Bangor were gifted the opening goal in the 12th minute when Ruthin defender Ryan Williams turned James Barry’s low ball into his own net, while Telor Williams bagged his first league goal since August last year to double the home side’s lead three minutes later as he headed home from Corrig McGonigle’s corner.
Mason Blackwell-Jones added a third for Mike Johnston’s side in the second half, dribbling past two defenders before firing a low effort into the bottom corner.
Flint Mountain climbed to sixth in the table as Andy Brown’s stoppage-time winner saw them snatch a 1-0 victory away to Caersws on Saturday.
Brown rose highest to head home from Ryan Kershaw’s inviting delivery in the fourth added minute, as Mountain also kept their first clean sheet away from home this season.
