JD Cymru North round-up | Flint defeat Llanidloes in remarkable 13-goal thriller

Flint Town United and Llanidloes Town played out the highest-scoring game since the formation of the JD Cymru North as the Silkmen triumphed 9-4 at the Essity Stadium on Saturday.

Elliott Reeves and Josh Jones both bagged hat-tricks for the hosts, Rhys Kavanagh netted a brace and there was a first Flint goal for teenager Luis Lacey. Jamie Breese and Connor Bird both scored twice for the Daffs on a remarkable afternoon.

Third-place Airbus UK Broughton remain level on points with Flint and league leaders Holywell Town following an emphatic 5-0 victory away at Chirk AAA.

Nick Grogan’s first goal of the season broke the deadlock in the first half, before Craig Lindfield netted a brace after the break alongside one each for Oli Lanceley and substitute Sam Baker.

Llandudno marked their return to the OPS Wind Arena by scoring a late winner in a 2-1 victory over Ruthin Town on Friday night to move out of the JD Cymru North relegation zone.

Ethan Roberts’ back post header gave the Seasiders the lead in the first half, before Gwion Owen’s 86th-minute equaliser appeared to have earned Ruthin a point. However, Llandudno substitute Liam Ellis struck in the fifth minute of stoppage time to spark wild scenes of celebration among the home crowd.

Mold Alexandra returned to winning ways with an emphatic 5-1 victory away at Gresford Athletic on Friday night.

Jake Roberts continued his remarkable record of scoring in every league game he has played in for Mold by bagging a hat-trick, with Sam Duffy and Nathan Mendoza also finding the net for the visitors. Gresford played over half of the game with 10 men following Charley Edge’s red card in the 38th minute.

Denbigh Town made it four league wins in a row by triumphing 3-0 away at Prestatyn Town on Friday night.

All three goals came in the first half as Matthew Worrall scored twice – once either side of Ryan Kershaw’s finish on his return from injury. Prestatyn’s woes were compounded by a red card for top scorer Dan Atkins.

Bangor 1876 ended a three match losing streak in the JD Cymru North by earning a comfortable 3-0 win over Buckley Town at Nantporth on Friday.

Following a goalless first half, Corrig McGonigle scored twice in two minutes for the hosts before substitute Liam Morris made sure of the victory. Josh Dunroe was sent off late on for the Bucks, who slipped into the relegation zone as a result of the defeat.

The only draw in the JD Cymru North this weekend saw Porthmadog and Caersws share the points in a 1-1 stalemate at Y Traeth. Morgan Owen opened the scoring for the hosts after just six minutes, but Sam Phillips levelled in the 14th minute.
